“It is a nice hotel for comforttable price. The food price for event not worth the money.”

“Great location, by the beach but no view to the ocean and they close down the swimming pool by 10 pm too early if you ask me!”

“We enjoyed our stay at Villa del Palmar. It's not the fanciest place, but the room was clean and spacious and we enjoyed sitting around the pool. The location is excellent--close to the Marina area and Downtown and Old Town.”

“We were nagged constantly by the staff to go to a Time Share sales pitch. They would not leave us alone, and when we told them we were not interested in a Time Share, they were very rude. I have been to Mexico many times and expect the Time Share pitch on the streets outside my hotel, but I was shocked by the level of annoyance inside the hotel.”

“The price is good but everything else was lacking. In order to get a chair by the pool or on the beach, you needed to get your towel the night before and put it on the chairs. Otherwise, you won't get a chair! We managed to get one the very last day we were there. The beds are very uncomfortable. The room was clean though nothing special. The restaurant was terrible - don't recommend eating there. There is a wonderful French restaurant just down the road. Who knew we'd eat mostly at a French restaurant in Mexico! The location was good - just a short bus or taxi ride to old town. Wouldn't recommend this hotel.”

“Very nice hotel. Lots of staff on site working around the clock to keep up the premises. Great swimming pool with a water slide in the middle, the kids had a lot of fun. The supermarket was 2 blocks away so we were able to stock up the fridge in the room. There was also a grill on the property that the guest could use. Bus station right in front of the hotel. We had a very good time!”

“When we got there the Villa Del Palmar was sold out, so they put us in the less expensive counterpart, next door. The person checking us in was also acting strange about the whole thing, didn't believe we had a reservation b/c they were sold out, and made us go to the internet cafe down the street and print out our confirmation letter(which we have done to begin with, but the cafe we made the reservation in, the printer was broken). Anyway, it ended up working out, and the room was nice, it just wasn't exactly what you said it would be.”

“When you are a guest at a hotel, you expect the hotel to be "on your side". That is, you expect them to at least provide you with helpful information (about restaurant, trips, etc). Unfortunately, Villa del Palmar views its guests as nothing more than walking wallets, and everything there is set up to try to pry as much money out of those wallets as possible. In that sense, the atmosphere at the hotel is very hostile--you feel like you're on opposite sides of a money game, as if the hotel is in cohuts with other local businesses, not with their own guests. The waiter frowns when you order only one drink. The concierge tries to send you to the most expensive restaurant or the most expensive tour. Here's another example. Having just arrived from the airport, we were very hungry, and spotted a vending machine out of our room window. but couldn't find it. When we asked the concierge, they denied that there was a vending machine anywhere on the grounds. Only after we insisted that we saw it from our room did they tell us how to get to it--apparently it's not for "guests" but for employees, the guests having to paying 4 times the price at the hotel market/deli. Villa del Palmar's beach has underwater rocks on their beach. These rocks are annoying when the tide is high and extremely dangerous when the tide is low. Most people walk over to nearby beaches (thankfully, it's just a few steps away) in the afternoon, when the tide is low and the underwater rocks render the beach unusable.”

“Clean and quiet hotel. Friendly staff. Not the fanciest place in Puerto Vallarta.”
