“It would have been helpful if we were told that the room would be small and that it would have a just standard double bed. We suspect that these rooms are let to singles and/or internet reservations. We would not have paid more for such a room.

“Generally ok but the tiniest bathroom I have ever had in a 'quality' hotel! Room was small but ok. Long long walk to the room (they gave us the very last room for some reason!)

“breakfast very dissapointing, overcooked and kept under lights too long, also partner ordered poached haddock, which had to be send back, as it had been microwaved and was solid. Also evening meal, supplements on menus, which if you did not realise could add quite alot to your bill.”

“Genearally ithink my stay was very pleasant and enjoyed the polite mannerism of staff who were extremely freindly and helpful. It would have been nice to have known that the swimming pool would be closed and the actual bathroom was more cleaner. The only thing that would stop me coming again would be the cleanliness of the room. The bathroom was slightly dissapointing and would hope if I viisited agin it would be cleaner.”

“I would not have booked this hotel if I`d known there would be no leisure facilities!”

“The hotel was clean and staff friendly. It was however over-priced and the online booking was unclear as to what was included in my package (upgraded leisure facilities? for example). I would have preferred to have seen a schematic and comlete photographs of teh room for which I was paying. In terms of a room for '140 per night I would ave expected something fairly special; what I got was something fairly average.”

“The location was great. Reception staff were very helpful and knowledgable about the local area and buses to get into Oxford town etc. The directions to reach the hotel were very good as well, we found it without any problems.

“The location of the hotel is great for those not wanting to stay in Oxford as a '6 taxi ride will take you into the city centre.

“Wasn't sure if there was a pool or not? Quite a long walk to room and no lifts? Superb food but sat by VERY noisy large group. We were asked if we'd like to move - said yes but then told the only table available was no further away. Later saw two more tables laid and another group asked to be moved there - not very happy about this but fortunately the noisy group left after half an hour. Went down to breakfast 9ish on Sunday - came back about 10.15 - still trolleys of room service dirty crocks in corridors from night before which I found surprising in an otherwise clean and pleasant hotel. My husband had to say 3 times that we hadn't been charged for a guest's breakfast before the desk would accept (good job we're honest!!)”

“Rack rates are very high (this is Oxford) so be prepared to haggle! Hotel is convenient for the city but rush hour traffic can mean long journies into the centre. The hotel seems to be well run and appointed with good quality food being offered at breakfast. The public seating area in the lobby was very cold even in early autumn. Our room was disappointingly small for a double but we did have the last smoking room left and might have had a bigger one if not for this restriction. Overall, this is a good place from which to explore the area or stay on business and avoids the frustrations associated with city centre hotels. Amenities at The Oxford Hotel, Oxford
