“I have 3 boys all under 7 years old. We were looking for a sun-filled beach/pool getaway vacation with a direct flight from Boston. The convenience of a 2.5 hr direct flight with young kids over ruled any concerns about Atlantis. Big mistake! Before I explain, I should point out that I lived in St. Thomas (Virgin Islands) for many years, and therefore had the opportunity to visit many of the Caribbean Islands nearby. So I have a decent level of experience with comparable vacation spots. In short, Atlantis is the worst I have ever experienced. The rooms itself were small and dated. Our balcony overlooked a dumpster and a rusted oil drum right below. Every morning at 6 am, a trash truck would come and noisily pick up the trash from the dumpster, paradise this was not. The Atlantis property itself is absolutely huge. Bring your walking shoes. The Beach Tower has no cab service pickup, and all restaurants (except one high-end buffet) is at least a 15 min walk indoors. Fine for couples, but a struggle for families with young kids to walk a mile for every meal. Very odd design with the lack of amenities at the Beach Tower, and the need to funnel all those who stay there (400+ rooms) to the other properties for the most basic of needs (food, check-in, etc) grew tiresome. The best part of Atlantis is, off course, the pools and beach. The kids loved it. They have so many different pools, slides and beach spots that the kids never got bored of the location. The marine life in the pools was a very cool touch as well, manta ray, sharks, turtles, and fish all swimming in tide pools and lagoons on property. This was well done. Finally, the food. Coffee was $5. Cheese burger was $10. Lunch averaged $75 per day for 5 of us at the pool grill. Dinner at Carmines for 2 adults and 3 young kids was $300. In 5 days, I spent $1600 on food alone. I have no problem paying a premium for food on vacation, but these prices were off the chart. Why the need to gouge the vacationers to this degree? By the end of the trip, I was so disgusted by the over-priced fare that I couldn't wait to get back home. I will never go back to Atlantis. My suggestion is to opt for all-inclusive options in the Dominican, Aruba or heading to Tortola. You will end up paying the same or less as Atlantis for far better service, food and less crowds. I wish someone had given me this advice (and I would have listened) before I booked my trip to the Bahamas.”

“The quality of food/beverage is not worth the price. You will be billed each time you open "refrigerator". Internet/cell phone connection, and microwave were non-existent. They do have an on-site shuttle service which it seems they must keep a secret. ” 2 of 3 people found this review helpful.

“I really liked the Atlantis hotel it was really fun for the kids & I. I stayed in the royal tower which really made me feel royal. The Atlantis has allotted of fun attractions. You can¿t really say that it wasn¿t fun because it has everything a hotel has & more. I liked that it was big because you had allot to explore. I had allotted to do at the beaches and water attractions. This is a very fun place and it is worth your money.” 6 of 7 people found this review helpful.

“The ultimate mega-hotel is beautiful and probably a lot of fun for kids. We stayed in the royal tower (they one you see in all the picture) what you may not know about Atlantis is that it is a collection of many hotels/condos and a marina. Kids would probably love this place. We don't have kids and to be honest I thought the resort was really expensive and overrated. Our friend paid $30 for a fish sandwich, and $10 is pretty typical for a cocktail. The shark tank/water slides are cool but only can keep you entertained for a few minutes. We were at a conference and it would frequently take 20 minutes to walk from one side of the resort to the other to get to our meeting rooms and meals. If you stay at Atlantis make sure you stay at the royal tower-the other hotels are old and don't look very nice. Also, be prepared to walk A LOT to get to the beach/pool/restaurants.” 13 of 17 people found this review helpful.Amenities at Atlantis Paradise Island, Nassau
