  • The one evening meal we had was absolutely superb
  • The room was small, bed was poor and road noise was bad

“The hot water was mot available through the tap on the morning of our departure and the excuse given was that we were at the end of the line”

  • It is in a good location. Easy parking and town centre access.
  • Security needs to be improved. Ask about bathroom facilities when taking bookings.

“When i locked myself out of my room i asked for a replacement key. The lady on reception said to ask the maid as she was on my floor. I did this and she let me in my room. While this is good and hassle free, i could have been a thief and stolen someone elses belongings. The locks on the rooms need improving.

We had a bath with no shower attachment. While this isnt too much of an issue i didnt like the thought that lots of other people had sat in the same spot as me and washed themselves. I think it would improve the customer experience if you asked before booking the hotel, whether the customer wants a room with a shower or a bath in it.”

  • Good quality and value of the restaurant, efficient and friendly staff.
  • The room and hotel in general is in need of modernisation/redecoration

“The hotel is convenient for the city centre and the food was also of a good standard. The rooms need renovation although the facilities were adequate. As a business traveller, a trouser press would be useful. At '49 it was good value.”

  • Friendly staff; good location; quiet and warm room.
  • Decore and facilities are a out of date. Breakfast is too expensive.

“The hotel has a homey character - not sterile like one's experience at a big hotel chain. It was quiet, warm and all facilities worked. Other internet reviews said that the hotel was out of date and some facilities did not work. However, I prefer the home-like atmostphere and gladly sacrifice the latest style for the feeling of a home away from home.
I was happy with the hotel - it met my expectations as set by the internet information.”

  • Very loud music from a party downstairs till late at night was not acceptable!

“The Hotel and its facilities were adequate for our needs, but we should have been told of the Party.”

  • The hotel was convenient for the station.
  • The room smelt of stale cigarettes, had a window that would not close, hot water tap not working and coffee that was disgusting.

“For a 2 star hotel it was very disappointing. The hotel is shabby, the breakfast had no fresh fruit it was all tinned and the coffee was quite the worst I have ever tasted. The instant was not much better either. The waitress was not informative of what was on offer for breakfast. All together not a hotel to stay in. I have had better accomadation and breakfasts in Little Chefs!”

  • Very Little
  • No cold water in the sink. Shower needed a new base and there were some tools holding the shower head together. Generally the room was dirty and uncomfortable.

“I would like to have known that I was staying in a room in a good state of repair and clean, which wasn't the case. The breakfast staff were unhospitable and the service was slow and seemed as if we were imposing or interupting their conversation.”

  • location
  • noisey, generallly worn, no shower

“The hotel provided adequate accomodation, but was a little tired in the interior decoration and furniture. when booking out was not asked if we had enjoyed our stay, its the little things like this that stick in your mind after a break.”

  • It was easily accessed from the station and near to the location I needed to get to the next day.
  • Shower room was a little small, but was very clean.

“Room in general was very comfortable with tea and coffee facilities. TV remote control needed new batteries.

The first room we were booked into had only a bath. The next time I book I will remember to ask for a shower, rather than a bath.

Staff were very helpful and polite and informative about surrounding areas.”

  • A friendly hotel within easy walk of the City Centre
  • Room 51 was a bit small. It was clearly a smoker's room which we found off-putting (weren't offered a choice of smoking viz non-smoking).

“To be quite honest, we felt the hotel rooms required updating, they were rather out-dated. An en-suite shower facility would have been appreciated.”

  • Fire Exit door from room was locked. Sound from corridor noise disturbed me a little.
