Just a few steps away from Milans landmark Duomo cathedral, the Spadari al Duomo hotel boasts a spirited atmosphere. By incorporating the work of local artists, a carefully chosen and discriminating range of individual tastes was combined to form an integrated whole. The foyer fireplace and wall sculpture are by Gio Pomodoro, an Old Master sculptor. The pastel-shaded fresco painting in the American Bar is by Valentino Vago and serves as a frame for an extensive collection of Italian earthenware. The furniture and decorations, as well as the hotels series of lights and iron creations, bear the signature of designer Ugo La Pietras himself. So does the large bar which is frequented by guests during the evening hours. Overall, the art serves as a backdrop to the hotels otherwise functional design and friendly service.[less]
