“The apartment in which we stayed was not even basically clean. It was non vacuumed, used towels were hanging from a clothes rod and the kitchen contained dirty dishes and crumbs. In fact, the oldest and dirtiest looking scrubber, left in the sink, prompted me to go out and buy a new sponge (which I donated to the hotel) and re-scrub the kitchen sink, counters and dishes. The lobby area was cluttered and disheveled, containing a rack with a computer parts, bags of cleaning supplies and toilet paper and a large Tasmanian devil stuffed animal (which more frequently than not in our seven-day stay was placed behind the front desk in the absence of the manager). There was also a rack of severely outdated brochures in the foyer some dating back to 2005. We even saw a mouse in the lobby one night. The said lack of manager was especially disgusting, as keys began to pile up on the desk for days as people (I assume) checked out. To me, this raises the risk of someone who gains access to the foyer once being able to access the apartments. Totally unacceptable and unsafe for fellow guests. The cleanliness of the upholstery and curtains in our apartment was disgraceful, and the hodge-podge selection of furniture was tasteless. There was a persistent ticking from the closet in our bedroom (may be a water heater) and the sound of dripping water (but it could have been a nibbling mouse out of sight) from the bathroom. In all, its most impressive attribute is its location, but that cannot be factored based on safety, cleanliness, service and other elements crucial to a relaxing stay. Just in case you think I am an untraveled, and picky, let me assure you, I am not. I have stayed in hotels ranging from a simple one-star across from the teeming Red cross hospital in Bombay to the Hotel Metro Pole in Moscow. I have stayed at some really gnarly and some really nice hotels, hostels, B & B's and residences. I understand the differences between expectations of American, European and Asian hotels. The Kensington Park Apartments should be a one-star.” Amenities at Kensington Park Apartments, London
