“Great location to airport.”

  • Interesting old building.
  • Difficult to find made worse by heavy road construction in area of hotel.

“Typical Thistle Hotel. 5 miles from Manchester Airport. A ten minute drive took almost 40 minutes because of construction diversions. Friendly and helpful staff. Clean hotel but very, very smoky bar. Smoke in bars will end January 2006 so that will not be a problem. The British still have a lot to learn about running a hotel. I am an ex-pat Brit so I know of what I speak. If you know what I mean. You do not you?”

  • Not much airport hotel, what a joke.
  • It was miles from the airport.

“No one spoke English. Wanted to have a drink at the bar and they just vacuumed and ignored us. Wanted to eat but they were vacuuming and ignored the customers. Rooms are small with mini TVs. I have stayed at much better places in countries like China. Rip off UK and this hotel is living up to the tradition. Shocking! Will never stay in a Thistle Hotel again.”

  • They were friendly.
  • The bathroom was not clean and was actually revolting to shower in.

“The hotel on a whole was O.K, not great as I would have expected. But just O.K.”

  • The only thing good about this hotel is the location and bed!
  • Disliked everything about it other than the location and bed!

“This hotel is very poor value for money and the pounds per night the Thistle charges is absolutely ridiculous to put it mildly. If you get a good deal at a rockbottom price and have no choice at all - you can just about endure it. The size of the rooms is probably the worst part about the hotel. The rooms are simply TINY! The swimming pool just like the rooms is TINY - it is the smallest pool I have ever seen, the only highlight of the leisure area was the Jacuzzi. The hotel itself looks quite nice from the outside, but you can see the reality as soon as you enter the hotel, the reception area is decorated very poorly and looks highly disorganised. It is definitely not what one would expect from a hotel which claims to be 4*, which is the most shocking part about this hotel! HOW ON EARTH IS THIS HOTEL A 4*??? The real plus point of this hotel is the location. You are truly living in the heart of the city centre and will have no problems as far as transport is concerned, particularly if you are not driving.”

“Not bad for the location. The staff is friendly and helpful. Most of the restaurant staff is Eastern European.”

“This was the absolute worst hotel I have EVER stayed in. There were 2 wedding receptions going on directly below my room...needless to say the disco floor could have been in my room until 2am. I spoke with local people at the airport at 6am (yes, that means I got 2.5 hours of sleep) and they told me that this hotel is a dive and they would NEVER recommend it to people. As far as it being an airport hotel, it was a 5 mile convoluted drive to the airport with no shuttle service so that hardly constitutes an airport hotel. By the way I met many other disappointed customers at the check out counter, so this isn't just my opinion and the manager wouldn't even acknowledge our very polite but firm comments about the state and quality of his hotel.”

“Rooms were bad, were put in non smoking as requested but there were smoking rooms all around. Room smelled. Uncomfortable. Toilet seat broken. Supposed to be a 4 star? It was more like a two.”
