  • great staff, breakfast in room, quiet & convenient location, clean & pleasant
  • very uncomfortable bed (scratchy sheets, could feel individual springs!)

“Overall this is an excellent hotel: clean and welcoming, small enough to have almost a bed-and-breakfast feel. The staff were accommodating of our early check-in, and even helped us research daytrip travel options. For a quiet room in South Kensington, this was a great value (we stayed 3 nights for '44/night in January), and the two-minute walk to Gloucester St tube made getting around London quite easy. Breakfast delivered to our room in the mornings was a nice touch, along with the in-room tea & coffee setup. The main complaint was with the bed: the sheets were rough even by American budget-motel standards, and the mattress so cheap or worn that we could feel the springs against our backs! I can sleep under any conditions, but my boyfriend woke up several times from discomfort. If they improved their bedding, this would be one of the best hotel deals in London.”

  • central location, close to major tube lines, breakfast was served in bed

“Typical english low budget hotel, (still quite expensive, but it's in London after all), nothing special but for us as tourist location ist the most important factor”

  • Easy parking outside which is free at the weekends
  • Tatty, linens left on floor outside room, a bit unkempt

“Cheap and not so cheerful but adequate if you are not spending much time in the room. Good location. Kept banging head in bathroom due to low ceiling.”

  • Extremely convenient to our venue.

“Did not realise there was no lift. We were located on the top floor and I am disabled. Could not be moved as they were full. The stairs were a challenge. My responsibilty too as I did not think about that when I booked. So, a learning experience.”

  • Location

“Location was great, and price was good as well, however hotel room was dated and the bathroom was not clean. I would only stay here again if unable to find any other accomodation in the area.”

  • proximity to venue (Royal Albert Hall)
  • happy with everything except point below

“Everything about the stay was as expected, given our expenditure, except for an extremely disturbing noise from, (we believe), a toilet extractor fan from the room above. This prevented both my wife and myself from getting any sleep. Had we been staying any longer I'm sure that this would have been resolved, however we were only staying one night and so the experience was devalued.”

  • Plenty of space and the children had their own room.
  • The fan in the bathroom was noisy and didn't switch off all night. However, we were all too tired for that to really bother us!

“Tbe hotel was handily placed for our visits to the museums and to Stamford Bridge football ground. The facilities were clean, tidy and relatively spacious. We would definitely consider booking this hotel again. The gentleman who booked us in and out was very courteous and personable.”

  • Our rooms were clean with the added bonus of comfortable beds. Excellent value for money.

“For a two star hotel, it was excellent value for money. The rooms were of an adequate size, clean, well equipped, with comfortable beds. Our party only stayed the one night, arriving about 9:15pm and leaving just after 8am the next day. Howver for tourist and business people who are not interested in staying for any length of time at the hotel it was well worth the money.

What we would have liked to know before booking:

We did have a slight problem finding it,and in hindsight a location map or directions, would have helped perhaps.

It would also have been useful to know that there wasn't a lift and that accomodation was over four floors. Two of our three rooms that we booked being on the third and fourth floor, one of our party had difficulties with climbing the stairs”

  • It was cheap and the staff were extremely pleasant/helpful.
  • The room was extremely small and needs some TLC. I could not shut the window

“Very basic accomodation, the room was extremely small and dated but very clean and the bathroom was quite large. The hotel is in excellent position, only 2 minutes from the tube and is value for money, it just needs a little updating. For a base and just somewhere to sleep it is ideal.”
