• This is a genuine five-star. Everything about it is topnotch.
• Charges me 3 euros for every time I picked up the phone to dial a number I was never able to reach.

“This is an impressive hotel, truly luxury-class, next door to Ritz four seasons. But, like the avaricious inn in les miserable, it charges guests for everything it can possibly charge them for. And the charges are not small. Breakfast is not included in the room fee and is 22 euros a person (walk a block or two and you're sure to find a cafe where you can have a very satisfactory breakfast for less than 10.) The mini bar prices are absurd: 12 euros for a chocolate bar. If you pick up the hotel phone and get an outside line, you will get charged 3 euros even if you don't connect. At checkout I was presented with a 20-euro bill for such unmade calls; I protested, on principle, but the manager merely offered to reduce the amount owed by 30 percent.”
