“I stayed in London for 4 days and the hotel was much nicer than expected. The rooms are very comparable to Holiday Inns in the US in both size and quality. I have been to Europe and England many times and would say the room was larger than most and nicer than most. Although I was expecting two twin beds, I was surprised to receive a corner room with two double beds. I am not sure if this is standard or we were upgraded, but it was nice. The common areas were much nicer than the average London 3 star hotel. The only complaint I had about the room is the caulk around the top of the tub was pealing away and you could see a little evidence of mold. Otherwise, the bathroom was very clean, the shower was always hot and water pressure was great. Beds were comfortable, the rooms and hallways did not smell like smoke, the elevators worked, and all in all it was a good hotel. The only downside of the hotel is the location. It is a good 10-15 minute walk from the Kings Cross station, which wasn't horrible, but I wish the hotel was a little closer to the tube. There is a bus stop nearby, but the bus system in London is a little confusing so I couldn't figure out which bus to catch. I'm sure if I wanted to spend a few minutes figuring it out I could have, but I prefer the tube and didn't mind the walk. The staff was very adequate to handle my check in and check out and although foreign, could speak and understand enough English to get me checked in and out, and give directions to where I needed to go. They were also very polite and helpful. I did make a few 0-800 # phone calls and called down to the desk to make sure they were free of charge. The desk told me they were, but when I went to check out, they tried to charge me for them.”

“Very friendly staff. Rooms were ok but the TV was old and poor quality. Food was not good. The downstairs breakfast was awful. Room service was not 24 hour. They were not very accommodating and they did not understand English very well. Location not very convenient to town or tube.”

“The hotel is a 10 minute walk from the local tube station and is not conveniently located for any of the restaurants or sights typically frequented in London. Consequently, what you save on the room is used up in taxi charges.”

“This hotel is far from the location they advertise to be in Bloomsbury. It's more than 15 minute walk from the hotel to the heart of Bloomsbury. It's a suppose 4 star hotel but the mattress were not firm and the room is unmemorable. I don't not recommend this hotel for anyone expecting a 4 star service. 2 to 2.5 star, yes but not 4.”

“Nice and clean rooms in the hotel with all the necessary facilities and services. Hotel is far from central London. However, there is a bus stop close to the hotel from where one can take a bus to central London.”

“Do not stay here! Location is far from any public transportation and the cabs the hotel calls for you are double the price of Black Cabs. To get to a bus, you have to walk about 1 mile up a steep hill or go the other way through a very sketchy area. The beds were very uncomfortable and the sheets were itchy. Also, the TV did not work. This is no four star hotel!”

“Poor location. Old and shabby room. Hotel smells like curry. More like a 2 star hotel at best. Needs major improvement.”

“Described as a 4-star hotel, this is more like 2 stars--poor location, cheap fixtures, chair in the room broken, outrageous charges for internet ($16/hr, when purchased by the hour--the internet cafe across the street was $2/hr). Nice lobby, but the veneer of sophistication was very thin, down to the plastic cups in the rooms.”

“After staying in a more upscale 4 star Kensington hotel prior to the holiday inn, I frankly preferred the room in the holiday inn better. The Kensington hotel had small narrow, soft, single beds. The large firm queen-size mattress and decor of the holiday inn was much nicer. With larger TV and more channels, also!”

“Overall this hotel was a good deal for London, the rooms were the largest I have ever seen in the city (American hotel size). The hotel was clean, and modern. The only drawback was that it was about 10 minutes from either nearby tube station (Russell square or kings cross). If you get a good deal, I would recommend staying here. I would stay again.”

“This is a 2.5 star hotel as per American stander in a bad location, unsuitable for the traveler to see London. The tube is far away, you have to walk to tube through rough area which can be dangerous for the visitors because they always have something with them. The good thing about this hotel is the staff, they work so hard to do anything to make your stay comfortable, but they have limits.”

“I found the hotel to be very clean with a nice size room. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The location was not easily accessible from a tube station. The hotel is very well kept.”

“This hotel is a 10 minute walk to kings cross station. There is nothing around it much to see unless you like to look at the large postal sorting facility across the street. we had a great view of all of the postal trucks. This is not a 4 star hotel. no amenities in the room such as individual soaps, shampoo, and conditioners. no mini-bar.”

“This is a good business or leisure travel hotel. The rooms are large, clean and comfortable. There is an indoor pool. The area is safe, but about a 15-minute walk from the nearest tube stations. The breakfast buffet is expensive, crowded and has a limited selection. There are a few breakfast alternatives within a 5-minute walk.”

“For a hotel that you listed as a three star it was located in a less than desirable Bloomsbury area. Location, breakfast, which was costly, was not included and I was not told about that. Perhaps I was not knowledgeable enough and that will certainly be a factor in future decisions about booking rooms.”
