• Shabby.

“Also the hotel was shabby, with lousy carpeting, old furniture throughout. The fitness center had a gross musty smell. The breakfast at the hotel restaurant was eye-poppingly expensive.”

• It was clean.
• The staff was unfriendly and rude. I was treated as if I should not be there.

“Twice I was locked out of my room. They kept locking the mini bar until I got so fed up I went out and got my own booze.”

• The staff was fabulously helpful.
• Nothing.

“So convenient from the airport transfers to the location. The room was well equipped and fairly spacious so I still had a little space left over even with a crib in there. Great selection of pillows too!”

• It was in walking distance to restaurants.
• The staff was not very friendly.

“While the hotel is close to the London-Gatwick airport it does not have a free shuttle so expect to pay for a transfer. Also the rooms are clean but very small.”

• The hotel was much more modern than I expected for a Holiday Inn.
• The hotel staff did not seem to know the area well. For an airport hotel this is important!

“A comfortable, clean hotel with a 2 nice restaurants. Don't expect too much of the hotel staff, though-they don't seem to know the area well at all.”

• Good sized room for London.
• The shuttle bus is hard to find from the airport and costs $5 each way.

“This is a perfectly functional room for a night before or after a flight out of Gatwick. The shuttle comes in a reasonable amount of time. But be aware that it is not complimentary (which "courtesy" shuttle implies), and will cost you 2.50 pounds each way. You must buy the ticket in cash so be sure you have enough to get to and from the hotel or you may find yourself having to get more money out of the cash machine than you really want to. Moreover they don't have any money exchange in the hotel and the cash machine charges a fee.”

• The check out staff was excellent. They went out of there way to assist me. Best I have seen in a long time.
• I ordered food from the Bar to take to my room. Food was terrible.

• The staff upgraded me to a family room.
• The hotel is in need of updating. Looks like it hasn't been done for 20 years.

“The room I stayed in was in fairly poor shape for a 3 star hotel. Comfortable enough and the staffs were great. While boarding my plane I could see my hotel room about 150 yards from the gate. Great Gatwick location.”

• It had a comfortable bed and couch. There was also a 24-hour shuttle.
• The TV remote did not work and the Kleenex box was empty.

“This hotel met basic expectations for a traveler who needed a short stay in preparation for a flight out of Gatwick. The room was adequate and had a desk for working and paid internet access. Recommended for short-term stays.”
