“The El Cid was above my expectations, and met every need I had for my stay in Ensenada. The location was great and the staff very accommodating and friendly enough. The room was clean, and spacious.”

“I had reserved two rooms for myself and my two brothers at the Best Western in Ensenada, Mexico. One brother has to sleep alone because of a sleeping disorder. When I arrived, I asked for one room with two double beds and one room with one bed as I had expected on my arrival. They told me that they only had one bed in each room and that to have two beds in one room they would charge me for the second room. I advised them that normally there were two beds in a room but they would not change their mind and insisted on charging me for the bigger room. I asked if they had other single rooms available and they said they had but I would have to pay for another room .I was paying for the other two rooms. I asked them to reconsider as I felt that they were still going to get more money for the third room. At this point I felt that I was being taken advantage of by the hotel. I asked to speak with the manager and was advised that she was not there. Ricardo, the person to whom I was speaking, called her on the phone and she was also not sympathetic to my cause. Then for some reason, Ricardo said that no more rooms were available. I asked if he had a computer and could I use the internet. He showed me the computer and when I went to your site, I was able to book and confirm a third room at the same price that I had initially made for the first two rooms. As I was unable to print the confirmation I wrote it down and handed it to him. He told me that he would not honor it and insisted that he had no more rooms. I became very upset telling him in a loud voice that I had reserved the room on my credit card once again and that if there were no rooms available, I would not have been able to book it. I also advised him that I was now going to be charged for it. He became very upset at my attitude and threatened to call the police and have me arrested. ”

“Overall great value, have stayed in a few hotels in ensenada and El Cid is the cleanest and best located thus far. Watch out for desk men that try to play stupid in order to charge you more. It does help to be with a Spanish speaking person.”
