“This hotel should be checked out. It is run on a shoestring. The whole hotel looks quite dirty, in big need of renovation and re-decoration. It is run in a very unprofessional way by a family and friends. You arrive and nobody is in the reception. Most the staff are out front playing billiard or snooker. The meals in the restaurant are not bad, but totally overpriced. The worst however is the car parking. On our return we had to call at the airport 3 times, we waited nearly 1 hour for them to pick us up. They made all sort of excuses (traffic, driver would come soon etc). In the end we found out they waited the arrival of another couple and could not be bothered to drive twice even though they advertise that they are only 15 minutes from the airport. After they finally picked us up in a van which was fit for cattle, with a very unfriendly driver, who even spoke on the mobile telephone and drove with one arm, we got to the hotel only to find, that our car was boxed in between lots of cars and not ready for us to leave. It took another 15 minutes to find somebody to move the other cars. All in all a bad experience and they need to be reported.”

“This is probably the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. They charge £80 for a room only worth £30. There was mold growing in the shower, there was no remote control for the TV, we were woken up at midnight by reception asking us to move the car, which they said when we booked in was fine where it was. We were then kept up all night by doors closing and people walking up and down the corridors. The restaurant is very over priced, and the food is bland. If you are unfortunate enough to stay here then I recommend you don't have the breakfast, as it is an extra £5 per person for the continental, and for that you can have a choice of processed cheese slices, some cheap ham, toast, with no preserves, a selection of yoghurt's, and fruit, all of which is still frozen. A case for the food hygienists I think. The worst thing is, is that when you want to complain the manager is no where to be found. We put our complaint in on the Monday morning to the "receptionist" and she told us that the manageress would definitely be there on our return. When we did return the person we expected to speak with denied being any level of management and the 'real' manager was no where to be seen, we were told he would ring us last night, but nothing, and we are still waiting. My advice is to book somewhere else, this hotel will make sure you don't get any sleep, serve you rubbish food, and then charge you a fortune for it. ”

“We were very pleased with the package of overnight stay, evening meal and airport transport, and the cost was appropriate and slightly less than we had paid previously for accomodation without disabled access and accomodation.
Some aspects were as above, though clean, shabby and not quite of a high standard.
We travel from Stansted regularly and we would definitely return to the Bushell and Sack, but would hope to see the shabbiness gradually upgraded.”

“Package suited purpose. Room was comfortable and staff friendly. Good value if you consider parking and airport transfers are included. Would certainly use again in the future, perfect for early or late flights.”

“Only one negative point: The bed blanket had as stated above no sheet or other type of cover. It seems I was supposed to sleep under a blanket which had been (visibly) been exposed to several other people. I chose to use a big towel as a partial remedy of this. Some of the many pillows the bed had covers that did also not look convincingly new-washed. Otherwise a very nice hotel. Handy with free pick-up service at Stansted, impressive also that this service started already at 04:00 (which I happened to need). Packed lunch was very practical and reasonably tasty. Staff (including the drivers) were very friendly.”

“This was poor value for money although the transport to and from the airport and parking was very handy. I was charged VAT when the booking clearly stated 'includes tax'. Breakfast waitress service was poor.”

“The check-in staff was very helpful and very polite. The retaurant staff continued to serve after hours to accomodate me, both unusual and commendable. They provide a shuttle service to and from Stanstead. In my view, they certainly provide value for money and a complete service package worthy of the name.”

“A good stay in general. Strange layout - had to take suitcase outside and back in again behind reception to get to stairs.”

“I have stayed at this hotel on two previous occasions and, whilst the standard of accommodation and service was not wonderful, it was adequate. It has certainly gone downhill since my last visit, about a year ago.”

“Having stayed in wide range of hotels from budget to luxury, I felt this was overpriced. At '90 + I would have expected better facilities - breakfast was particularly poor, rooms were adequate but shabby, service was casual and lacked attention.
My overall impression was that the target customers were transits from Stanstead but I don't see why that should mean they or anyone else should accept service which can only be described as poor”
