  • Clean, well priced and located close to the center. Tram to center and bus tour stops near the hotel.

“Very nice, competitively priced hotel for central location stay in Dublin. The rooms were a good size and very clean. Bathroom area is clean and nice. Staff were very pleasant and there is parking available. A very nice stay.”

  • Free internet access.
  • Ongoing construction.

“Good hotel for travelers to Dublin; easy access to Luas (light rail); not much in immediate vicinity, but very easy to get to Center City.”

  • The heat failed. Construction work continued all night long.

“This hotel is under construction and they had us sleeping in the wing under construction. It was awful. The workers worked all night. No exaggeration. They woke me up at midnight, 2am, 3am, and 5am. Oh, and the heat failed. The staff brought us a space heater but that didn't really do the job as it kept tripping breakers.

  • Very helpful staff.
  • Not too desirable an area.

“Very nice hotel for the price. Construction got us up early. Rooms were larger then most we have ever had and would hold a family easily, which is hard to find. I think it will be romantic when the construction is done. The area wasn't the best but it was very convenient on a tram line and near the train station for an easy trip to the airport.”

  • Near Train Station and buses. Friendly staff.
  • Need bus to get to center of town.

“This was our first trip to Dublin. The hotel was clean and the staff was friendly and helped us get our orientation on the city. It has a nice restaurant and a bar that serves food until 11:30 pm. For the trips downtown you need a bus, however, it is a short ride. The location is near Houston Station which has direct buses to the airport.”

  • It was okay.
  • Noisy, construction was going on, I expected a complimentary continental breakfast and they said no.

“The building is being expanded so there is a lot of construction noise. The hotel was a good no frills first stop in Dublin.”

“I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone. It was not, in my opinion, a 3 star hotel.”

  • They gave me a heater for the room.
  • The room was freezing, bedding felt damp.

“Ash ling is located near the Luis a, transportation you can hop on to go to the center of Dublin. The hotel is also is beside Houston Station where you can get a train to other locations in Ireland. It seemed family friendly because I saw a lot of families at breakfast. The breakfast arrangement is a bit wacky but you do get looked after.”

  • Nothing.
  • Location, shabby conditions, TV did not work.

“This hotel is located near the Houston train station. It is located on the Luas tram line for easy access into city center. This Luas tram is always packed and is very uncomfortable to ride, plus the area is not considered a safe area for being out at night. Many better hotels for close to same price near city center would have been much better.”

  • The price of the breakfast was a bit high. 12.50 euro.

“The hotel was very nice. The location was great. The people were all so friendly.”

  • The staff were unbelievably helpful and solicitous.
  • I wish the food was better, though it was not terrible.

“The Best Western Ashling is a lovely choice for a stay in Dublin, with only one caveat - if you need the area right outside your hotel to be full of excitement, this is not the place for you. Still, there are a few nice restaurants within a block or so walk. Very convenient to all forms of public transportation and in good weather an easy walk for a healthy person to central Dublin. The staff are top rate. The rooms are clean and decently appointed. And the place is, since it's far from the Temple Bar, quiet at night. Also, a very pretty little park across the street to while away part of a sunny afternoon.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[10]

  • Quality breakfast options, inexpensive snaks, close to train station, close to tram
  • On our last night, there was a loud wedding party that kept us awake until 12:25 am (not a typical occurrence for this hotel)

“A fine hotel in downtown Dublin with excellent access to the city's main sites and transportation links. ”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[7] • Location:[5]

  • Location right near tram line
  • Staff did not inform that breakfast was not included in room rate

“Basic hotel with good location along tram line, though a long walk to get into the city center. Generally satisfied though staff could have been friendlier.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[9]

  • They had free parking for guest and connecting rooms that made it great
  • When we called to ask for connecting rooms

“Definitely a great place to stay. Located right next to the National Museum, across the river was the train station, and three blocks away was the Guinness Storehouse. Great location and friendly staff. They also had a restaurant in the hotel.”

Cleanliness:[2] • Staff:[6] • Location:[7]

  • The location was good as was their included breakfast.
  • Both the service and cleanliness could use a lot of help.

“The Ashling is conveniently located near a major train/bus terminal in Dublin, which more than compensates for its distance away from the city center. The BW Ashling is also very near to one of Dublin's major tourist attractions, the Guiness Brewery! My major gripe with the hotel was the overall cleanliness of the rooms, which left a lot to be desired, especially from a 3 star hotel.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[6]

  • Clean , right across from Rail station
  • no fridge in room, no voice mail, missed messages

“The hotel is a bit from the city center, but easily can be reached by bus or a 15 minute walk. I would not consider it a 3 star hotel, even according to European standards. Was very annoying that there was no voice mail, messages taken by hand but still messages weren't received; and also no fridge in the room”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[10] • Location:[9]

  • Fireplace in lobby
  • No clock in room

“Not at all what I would expect from a 3 star rated property. The rooms did not even have alarm clocks! Maid service was less than adequate. Hot water ran out quickly. Coffee pot was not in good working condition. TV was extremely fuzzy and hard to watch. No heat in the room! We had to have a portable heater brought up so that we wouldn't freeze!”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[10]

  • Location - near Heuston Train Station and Trams
  • The restaurant was somewhat overpriced for the quality

“This hotel, known to Dublin cab drivers as "The Brothel" has completely reinvented itself and has succeeded in becoming a wholesome, family-oriented hotel. The interior is warm, attractive and friendly, with it's own pub and slightly overpriced restaurant. It is conveniently located near the Heuston Train station, bus lines, and the Tram runs right past the hotel. The inexpensive Bus to Dublin Airport stops at the Train station just across the river. It was quiet at night and only a few blocks from Ryan's pub, one of the oldest and most beautiful in Dublin. You can hop on the Tram at Heuston Station and you're in the City Center in minutes. A great value hotel.”
