  • We were treated like we belonged there the minute we arrived in Cancun.
  • There is no negative comments.

“Just got back last week, wow, it was wonderful, would go back to the Royal Sunset next time we go back to Mexico. After reading all the bad reviews prior to our vacation, I was worried about what I had signed up for, I don not know where those people stayed, could not have been same place. We had the all inclusive, had more than enough of what we could eat and drink, a clean room big enough for four, beautiful balcony overlooking the ocean, great entertainment, the staff was friendly, answered to all our needs and location was excellent. We were treated to two amazing fine dining experiences with the Italian and Seafood night, one of which we were an hour late of our reservations, still was brought in and treated like kings and queens. As for the time-share sharks, the sales people were only doing their job for the marketing of business, and our meeting only lasted three hours, which really is not that long out of your day for the wonderful time you will experience. We had our free massage, all our transportation questions for our excursions were taking care of by the staff, and each night the hotel offered free entertainment along with more food for every occasion, I am a big fan of all inclusive, even had a mini refrigerator filled with juices, water and beer in our room, thank you Sunset Royal for an amazing fun filled time I shared with my family, will go back again.”

  • Great location, beach used to be before the hurricane.
  • Time share people ruin the experience for nearly everyone, the all inclusive program is horrible and very expensive.

“We have owned at the Royal Sunset since before the building was even built. The one thing that you can count on from Royal Resorts - they want your money and when you invest they want more of it. You will be harassed every time you go there to listen to an update - in other words they will try to sell you something other than what you already have, they are never satisfied with just allowing you to enjoy your vacation without the sales pitch at some point in time. We have been to Cancun many many times since 1990 so we kind of know the ropes so to speak and I offer this advice to others so that they do not become trapped into a bad situation for years to come. Life is too short to have vacations with all the hassles Royal Sunset will give you. If you really want to go to Cancun and believe me we love Cancun.”

  • Location was good.
  • 90 minutes Time Share sale was 5 hours, drinks watered down, concierge forgot to book spa treatments.

“The hotel was in a good location, the rooms were small, the Time Share sales pitch was to last 90 minutes but ended up being 5 hours and ruined an entire day of our vacation, drinks were definitely wasted down, concierge failed to book our spa treatments and we had to settle on times other than what we originally wanted. The only 2 people that worked at this hotel that were nice was a bellboy and this guy who did a phenomenal job at painting plaster figures. Activities would just be canceled with no explanation or apologies. Services would open and close at times of their own choosing and not posted times. Maids did not do a great job of cleaning rooms, I once walked in and they had the TV on while they were cleaning my room.”

  • Nothing.
  • Everything.

“My mother-in-law had gotten us a 4-night stay at the hotel as a result of telemarketing with the understanding that we were supposed to attend a 90 minute sales presentation about the resort on our second day there. We were surprised to find that the room was clean and pretty decent with a view of the Laguna but that was the only nice thing about this hotel. The staff was horribly rude starting with the receptionist that checked us in. We didn't sign up for the all-inclusive plan (thankfully!) and when we went to find something to eat at 9:30 on the night we arrived, our only options were either a very noisy tent with a $39/person buffet dinner or a snack bar by the pool. We chose the snack bar and waited for 15 minutes for someone to show up and take our order. None ever came out! So we walked to the nearest shopping center and ate at Chilis (not exactly our idea of an authentic Mexican meal). The beach at the hotel was tiny and the pool equally as small and overpopulated. The bar in the reception area was always full of loud drunk people, so if this is your idea of a good time, you might like this hotel.”

  • Friendly staff, good location.
  • Total waste of the price.

“Overall, the hotel is good with access to the sister hotels. The food is good, the staff is friendly and the location is right on the hotel strip with easy access to downtown Cancun. We were not told that if we want to split up our 2 bedroom we have to pay a maintenance fee for each room, also if you want to use the 2 bedroom you have to pay the all inclusive fee and you have to have at least 4 adults (approximately) to have a 2 bedroom.”

  • Pushy sales people.

“We came upon this hotel by one of those sales people along side the road who sell tickets and some try to give you "free" tickets if you visit their hotels. Don't do it! We thought we would try the sales thing just to see what it's all about and for the free tickets. Should have trusted our instincts. They spent hours trying to push us into investing in their time share of course they don't call it that, but that is what it is. We didn't buy and guess what no free tickets, the sales people split like roaches and left us standing there with no tickets and no ride back to our hotel as promised. The hotel appeared decent, but the people that run it are scammers. ”

  • timeshare shark; partner with collection agency to ruin your credit

“I purchased the timeshare from Royal Sunset in 2003. After finding out the poor service and quality of their timeshare, we tried to cancel the contract after 5 business day. Royal Sunset refused the honor the cancellation despite the contract said buyer can cancel within 5 business day. They hired a collection agency in US and filed an collection account of $33k in my credit report. They inflated the timeshare from $12k to $33k. It damaged my credit and screw up my mortgage application when I tried to buy a house last year. Avoid Royal Sunset for all cost!!!!”
