“I've stayed here twice now but there won't be a third time. Both times were in the old section. Visit one featured a bed with somebody else's hairs through it and getting stuck in shower stall when the door jammed. There was no toilet paper. Breakfast was good though. Visit two had the bedside radio alarm circa 1965 going off at 2.34 am at max volume, but there was no knob to turn the volume down or off or power switch, luckily it didn't wake me up because the major air conditioning unit that appeared to be directly next door did not allow me to get to sleep in the first place (or at all). Did I miss the bit in the brochure about bringing my own? Both times the bathroom taps were all leaked badly despite all those Brisbane water saving stickers asking guests to conserve the H2O. Difficult to navigate your way through, it truly felt like a rabbit warren. Staff was relatively friendly and helpful where they could be, but they were fighting a losing battle against hotel age and upkeep. New side may be better, but I'm not willing to find out. My experience was 2.5 stars max.”

“This hotel is in a perfect location for a trip to see the Wallabies play at Suncorp, unfortunately appallingly dirty. Filthy carpet, doors on balcony don't lock, card key didn't work, bathroom had holes in walls and floor, hair on towels. The absolutely worst part is that the bed was infested with bed bugs. Great location doesn't make up for the shabby, dirty condition of this hotel - please don't stay here.”

“The worst hotel we have ever had the misfortune to stay in. Cockroaches crawling over us while trying to sleep, staff in general very unprofessional, do not stay here and risk getting sick from filth conditions. An appalling welcome awaits unsuspecting overseas guests. If you have a problem can assure you it will not be acted upon. You have been warned. Never ever stay here and do not believe the accommodation directory published for best western.”

“We stayed in the newer section. Nice rooms with kitchenette and patio. We were on the back side so didn't have a view of the river. Great value for your dollar. The best part is the location. It's only a couple of blocks from downtown. All the staff was friendly.” Amenities at Astor Metropole Hotel, Brisbane
