• I liked the wine and beer happy hour.
• The view from the room was of a brick wall.

“There are hundreds of hotels to choose from in San Francisco with basically the same amenities.”

• Clean and comfortable the staff was very nice.
• The "trendy" decor is a little dated.

“Nice boutique-y hotel near great shopping. The bed was very comfortable if a little claustrophobic because of the canopy. We had a great stay very quiet!”

• Convenient location, morning coffee and newspapers.
• Poor temperature control in my room.

“The location is very convenient, if you are willing to put up with the theater district panhandlers. The temperature in my room was difficult to control. My key card demagnetized twice--even after being there for almost a week, the staff still needed to see my ID. I appreciate the security, but since it's not a big hotel, I thought they might have learned my name or face by then. The free morning coffee with world-class newspapers in the lobby is nice, but one morning they were running a loud vacuum cleaner even though there were several guests trying to relax and read. Not a bad experience, but not excellent.”

• The bed and bedding were very nice and comfortable.
• The room was extremely tiny.

“Very clean and attractive, bed was soft and comfortable with nice sheets and pillows. Room was very small but okay for one person. Staff was helpful and friendly.”

• Nice location, nice restaurant, nice rooms.
• $50 parking. No spa, steam, or pool available during our stay.

“We found the hotel quite nice with the aforementioned amenities being shut down for repair and the $50 car sitting fee, we felt a bit slighted. The restaurant was wonderful, and the rooms were comfortable. I would stay again, if the spa and pool were available. Plus I could always park my own car in the same garage for only $25 per night.”

• It had excellent décor.
• Terrible view and incredibly small claustrophobic room.

“We got into our room and basically the bed took up half the room. We had a view of rocks and brick in the center courtyard and yet could still hear sirens non stop. It is fine if you are just looking for a place to sleep only but then why go to such an expensive place to begin with?”

• Very nice design. The rooms had lots of character.
• The room had issues with the air conditioner. In addition, the spa area was down and we were not notified before booking.

• The windows open.
• The staff.

“There was a mix up with my reservation and the staff was cold and not helpful. Also lots of items in my honor bar were expired. One from January 2007 I even ate a few chips before I noticed. Then I received an unwanted wake up call at 5 am. If the staff was friendly and apologetic I would have over looked these things. Since they were not I will never stay here again and will not be recommending this hotel to anyone I know.”

• Pretty.
• The staff was pretty indifferent.

“We called before hand to ask for a room with a view. We were given a room on the 5th floor. When we got to the hotel, suddenly we were on the 7th floor in a front corner room. We were really pleased. When we got to the room, the key cards wouldn't work, we went downstairs to speak with the front desk, and they checked it out. The concierge said that it looked like the computer wouldn't give us that room. So he gave us another room on the 7th floor. We got to the room and it was really small and it had no view except for the residential rooms across from us.”

• Nice decor and atmosphere. Free coffee in am and afternoon wine hour.
• Cafe and room service was average.

“Upscale boutique hotel in the heart of San Francisco a few blocks from Union Square. Plush rooms. Great service. And don't forget to enjoy the delicious coffee each morning and the afternoon wine hour.”

“The ambience of the hotel was nice. The service at the desk and valet was great. The location was convenient. The restaurant that was recommended by the front desk was fantastic. Overall we had a very restful and romantic little getaway.”

• Clean, impressive decor, very friendly staff at all levels, and half a block from the Curran Theater.
• It was all good. We wish we could have stayed a few more days.

“Beautiful boutique hotel with an excellent restaurant, very friendly and helpful staff, clean and odor free room, and very close to BART, Union Square, the Curran Theater, the Post Street Theater, and several very good restaurants, including Postrio.”

• While being very stylish and upscale, it was also very comfortable.
• The room was very small and had no closet or wardrobe for hanging clothes.

“This hotel is very stylish and unique while still feeling warm, welcoming and very much a boutique. The staff was extremely courteous and helpful and the food at the Hotel Bistro was fantastic.”

• Staff hotel lobby location coffee bar AM complimentary wine hour 5 to 6 PM all fantastic.
• Room size worked but its tight.

“Fantastic location and staff. Complimentary coffee bar in the AM with all papers available, complimentary wine hour 5 to 6 PM; comfortable beds housekeeping very attentive to provide clean rooms/towels and baths. SPA is under construction but staff offered an alternative.”

“I didn't have a bad experience really. I've stayed in La Quintas that has rooms as good as this motel and they cost a quarter of the price.”
