  • Good location, decent food.
  • Unresponsive staff, 'don't care' attitude.

“Generally a well-run hotel in an excellent location. The rooms are a little faded, but certainly they are clean and the hotel seems well-run. The food is quite acceptable. Staff is not what it should be - I had a UPS package delivered to the hotel one morning and spent the next day and half trying to find it at the hotel - it was clear that it had been delivered, but my attempts to retrieve it were met with disinterest by staff who promised to 'look into it' on three separate occasions and that was the last I heard. It was finally produced when I presented the signed receipt from UPS. Not the level of service expected from a quality hotel and I remain nervous about using them again.”

“I stayed at Boston Park Plaza Hotel for a week, in an upgrade Tower Room. I checked out with an erroneous invoice, and the security manager (service manage was not in on duty) promised that a fax copy of the revised invoice will be faxed to me. As of today (more than one week later), I am still waiting for the correct invoice. I emailed the security manager; she did not reply. I called the security manager and the hotel, and nobody picked up the phone at the front desk, or at the accounting. Apparently, nobody cares in the hotel once you leave. The lesson I learned from spending more than $2k? Stay away from Boston Park Plaza Hotel!”

  • I liked only Irish pub belonging to the hotel.
  • Dirty, old, grey, squalid, noisy, enormous, stinky.

“After being in a dirty, old, stinky room, with horrible furniture, damaged towels canopy and dust everywhere, we gave our credit card as a guaranty (our nights there had already being paid by our travel agent in Italy) and the day after we had left, without permission, reason and signature, they had stolen more than 400 dollars from our card. We've sent loads of e-mail that they've read but they don't answer at all. I and my husband are traveling on a honey moon around New England and we need the money stolen cause until October we wont have the full credit of our card even if we've rejected their payment. Horrible story! I'm so furious I would like to go there before leaving from Boston to go back home to tell them they're thieves! Don't go there!”

  • Location and proximity to public transportation was great.
  • The room was a little small, walls a little thin noisy.

“The hotel was very clean and the location was perfect- 2 mins to Copley Sq and the Boston Common. Also very convenient to the T, 1 block walk. The rooms have obviously been redone recently with nice muted earth tones and local artwork. Double shower heads in the bathroom was great too, as well as Caswell, Massey toiletries. I was not able to get the room type requested, but it turned out ok. Parking is very expensive at $36 per day here if you take a car. One other drawback is the noise level in the room, both from the other rooms and from the street, could be a problem if you are a light sleeper. I would recommend closing the bathroom door overnight since the noise seems to come from there. Overall I would recommend.”

  • Nice rooms with all the amenities, great location.
  • Noisy trash pick up and buses at 4 a.m.

“This historic hotel is located right next to Boston Commons and the start of the Freedom Trail. There are lots of restaurant choices nearby, and the T is one block away. Can't ask for more.”

“It was very nice. The Hotel lobby was beautiful. The doormen were very helpful. The employees were very nice. The rooms didn't have a coffee maker in them and it would have been nice to have a continental breakfast.”

  • It is nice and kept up well for an older hotel. It is in a good location.
  • I called and was assured that I would get a room with two double beds. None were available when I arrived.

“The hotel was nice for an older hotel and in a good location. After booking, I called to secure a room with two double beds. The reservation person assured me that this would not be a problem. When I arrived, there were no rooms with double beds available. The Park Plaza ended up giving us a room with 1 king size bed. The room was clean but the pillows smelled.”

  • Location.
  • Too cramped and expensive.

“The room was uncomfortably small, although I could have even overlooked that. The water from the shower overflowed on the floor every use onto all of our clothing, especially since there was not any countertop to put things on. Also, I would have expected a hairdryer in a 3 star hotel. We paid too much money for that hotel stay. We have stayed in other hotels in that area for just as much money but better rooms.”

  • Great location, right off the Tline. as if you need it in Boston.
  • No swimming pool.

“This hotel is in a great location, right off the T line. Arriving late on a weeknight, we did not feel the need to take a cab from Logan Airport. Keep in mind that this hotel, like many others, has no indoor swimming pool or hot tub.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[6] • Location:[7]

  • The hotel is within walking distance to points of interest. Good selection of restaurants on the property.
  • Bathroom was on the small side. The closet door would not open properly.

“Since this hotel is the second oldest in the city the rooms reflect that but that is something to embrace not complain. The lobby is wonderful and busy all the time. There were groups and parties going on while we were there so it was not on the intimate side. The staff overall were very helpful and friendly.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[8]

  • It was very quiet, even though there were people everywhere the place was quiet and everyone working was calm and friendly.
  • None of the vending machines worked with dollar bills even though they were all equipped with bill acceptors. Not going down to the lobby in my jammys.

“We will be going back again, hopefully as a family and not just as a couple. We would like to take the children into the city to experience all the great sites that we saw. The hotel is definitely family friendly. We saw many children and the staff did not seem put out by them at all. Quite the opposite actually.”

  • Very close to the T and good and cheap place to eat.
  • Completely satisfied.

“The information desk was a great help in directing us in our sightseeing daily trips. Being so close to public transportation, we could not have ask for more. 1st hotel I did not have to wait for an elevator any time. Just a great experience. Enjoyed the Au Bon Pain eatery so close by.”

  • Great location, several good restaurants onsite, friendly and helpful staff.
  • Carpet is getting old and sheets could have been cleaner, but still satisfactory.

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[9] • Location:[10]

  • Location was excellent and dining options were terific.
  • The security chain was broken and unusable, the door was so sticky that I thought it was still locked when I tried to open it.

“Excellent location and facility. The room was not as well kept as I expected. The security and door problems were obvious yet had not been addressed. I suspect that other rooms were in far better conditions. In the future, I would look elsewhere.”

  • Location was perfect and rooms a good size.
  • I made a 4 minute phone call within the state and it cost me $11.

“Overall the hotel was good. Service a bit slow in the Swan afternoon tea restaurant and concierge staff a bit diffident. Location was great and I liked the old fashioned feel of the hotel.”
