“Have been traveling nationally and internationally for some years, my first experience with bed bugs - approximately 150 bites. Management was not co-operative. The Crown Plaza Newton is built over a freeway, is not in a convenient location for a general visitor to Boston, is rundown, definitely not clean, and the staff dressed well but ineffective. There are so many other hotels to stay at with good prices - do not be fooled by the Crown Plaza name - this hotel is like no other Crown Plaza that I have stayed. For you and your family's sake choose another place to stay for your Boston visit.”

“The front desk manager could work at any 5 star hotel, she was that good. Hotel staff was exceedingly helpful and friendly. Very clean, great location, would stay there again in a heartbeat.”

“This outdated Crown Plaza is directly over a major interstate and is very noisy. It also has antiquated A/C units that are very loud and go on and off all night. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and the food was okay.”

“This was not the hotel I expected to stay in and should not have been rated three stars. It sat right on top of the highway and the train tracks. It was very noisy because of the trains and highway noise all night. The carpets in the room and the outer bed linens were dirty and stained. The hallway carpets were filthy and stained. The bathroom was very old looking with stained cracked falling apart tiles. The beds were comfortable and the towels were nice. The parking fee was high but we were not charged. I'm not sure why. The ice machine did not work.”

“This hotel was a nightmare from the start! Poorly located and in desperate need of an upgrade - no hair dryer in the bathroom, but a phone jack! The AC clicks on and off all night, adding to the noise. The earplugs, lavender linen spray and relaxation CD in the room. The staff was surly and obnoxious, acting as if they were doing us a favor by letting us stay there, and the prices in the on-site restaurant are outrageous! $6.00 for a bowl of oatmeal and $11.00 for a burger. Thank heaven Dunkin Donuts is across the street for breakfast, then it's off to find someplace else to eat the other meals! I wouldn't stay here again for any reason and I certainly would not want to inflict this place on anyone else!”

“Good overall experience. Noisy, but what do you expect when located over a major interstate highway! Nice pool and workout facility with unusual view of the I-95.”

“Anyone who's ever driven into Boston can recognize this hotel. It's unique location directly over the Mass Pike appeals to that inner child that though it was so cool. The coolness, however, wears off around 3 am when you can still hear the rumble of traffic (even seven stories up). On the whole, the hotel met or exceeded my expectations. The room was clean and moderns (save the classically shabby hotel bathroom) and the staff was very friendly. I'd definitely stay here again (convenient to the City--15 for a cab, and you more than make up the difference in the price of the hotel, shuttles to Copley on the weekend), but maybe next time I'd pack ear plugs.”

“This hotel needs major renovations. They do not have cooling in any of the halls and rooms have noisy window shaker units. The windows do not block out the noise of traffic in the rooms and the rooms themselves are not well insulated (heat wise). I remember waking up each morning boiling hot because I did not leave the window unit on. On top of that, there is major construction that is ongoing late at night (9pm - 4 am) which makes sleep difficult. As a business traveler, this is not a very comfortable place to stay.”

“I have driven underneath this hotel many times on the Mass Pike, but this was my first stay. The front desk and restaurant staff are efficient, bordering on curt. Guests seem to be a secondary activity to whatever else they are doing. Upon exiting the elevator to my room 10th floor, I first noticed the dingy hallway and tired carpeting. I thought I was entering a bad apartment complex from the 80's. Entering the room didn't improve my perceptions much the actual architecture of the room would feel right at home in the old USSR. Very boxy and cold feeling. The furniture and decor were a little sparse, too and very dated with plenty of staining on the carpet and warping, peeling of the furniture. The bathroom was in better shape, although still not great. However, it was very clean. The hotel, unfortunately, is noisy. You will hear the road and the trains, at least up to the 10th floor, and probably beyond. I checked in at 8:00 PM and noticed the noise until I fell asleep, well into the evening. This hotel is not a jewel in Sheraton's crown by any stretch of the imagination. I truly would not want to spend any time there that I didn't have to.”

“We had to take our daughter into Boston for surgery so the excellent location was why we chose this hotel. The staff was very helpful & professional, when told of our early a.m. departure for the hospital they provided directions to avoid traffic and even gave our daughter a toy to bring along. The common areas and room were very neat and clean despite being a little dated. Overall, given the circumstances, our stay was pleasant (again staff was outstanding) and we would recommend this hotel to everyone.”

“The lobby area is the only nice part of the hotel. The hotel is old and needs to be updated and renovated. We feel we paid more than we should have for the quality.”

“If it were not for the staff at this hotel, and the upgrade they gave me for the awful room that I was initially given, I would never stay here again. I am a preferred member and the room they gave me was something that you would find in a cheap motel, the ceiling above the bed was cracked, boarded up with wood with stains all over it.”

“The hotel initially put us in a room near construction, small and smoke filled even when I requested prior and at the time of arrival for a change to non smoking room. I ended up paying extra for a cot and did not sleep all night because of creaking and noise from construction. I did loose belongings and a jewelry item, they were all returned. The housekeeping staff is very helpful.”

“Awkward location over the Mass Pike. Getting in and out requires one to be in the proper lane. We were on the 9th floor so the noise did not bother us. Front desk was helpful in answering questions. Close to Buff's Pub where the locals go to enjoy wings!”

“The staff was the best part of this hotel; each person I dealt with was exceptionally friendly and outgoing. However, I was poorly disappointed in the actual hotel. I expected a 3-star hotel. This was shabby, old and stuffy- no air running at all made it uncomfortably warm. Both double beds in my room were lumpy and uncomfortable. It just seemed dark/ shabby and I was not 100% sure how clean it was. While the location looked convenient on a map, I spent over 4 hours that night trying not to listen to cars on the interstate (even with cotton in my ears).”

“This used to be a first class operation, but has changed hands recently to another chain, I presume it is about to get a badly needed makeover, but right now, it is only farcify it did not suit my location needs, I would not stay there. This is definitely not a three star property by any stretch.”
