“Please don't be fooled by the gorgeous and elegant lobby. You may end up with a "deluxe room" just big enough for a king size bed, a bathroom with a cracked sink that leaks all the water into your feet as you brush your teeth and a front desk that invites you to go get your toothpaste downstairs in case you request some. We had the impression we were put into their pet's room, but I think even fife would not like the room. Just in case you are wondering if all this can be true in a hotel with such good reputation, we took some pictures.”

“The rooms that have been refurbished are very nice. The ones that have not are very out-dated. Be sure to ask! Great location and if the weather is bad, you can stay for meals at the wonderful restaurant there. They make good drinks too!”

“While the bed allowed for a comfortable sleep, I was woken by a boisterous couple in the next room at 3 am. I was also slightly disappointed by the business accommodations, I left a message with the business center without a return call.”

“Having just read the reviews, I thought I would add this:
I've stayed at the Biltmore 3 times. The first 2 stays were NOT good - I was given very old rooms/suites which were in serious need of renos. I later learned that there were rooms which had been renovated and we stayed in one in Sprin '04. So BEWARE you must insist on a new room.
By the way no one has reviewed a new hotel - HOTEL PROVIDENCE - 3ll Westminster St. We had a great stay there in Spring '05. Fabulouse restaurant - L'Epicureo - formerly from Federal Hill.”

“The Providence Biltmore is truly a 'grande dame' hotel. The staff is wonderful and helpful, the location is prime, right downtown, a short walk from the new motel and a longer walk or short car ride to either Brown University or Federal Hill restaurants. The guest rooms are clean but a slightly in need of fresh paint and sprucing up. We have stayed here twice and would look forward to staying here again.”

“In the heart op providence, the blitmore has rooms the size of apartments in NYC. Centrally located across from providence place, there is tons to do right near this wonderful hotel.”

“Valet was excellent.Front desk was average.Lobby looked impressive, but when I got to my room I found carpets were dirty around walls, the bathroom vent did not work and pieces of paint and wallpaper were missing from the walls.VERY poor air conditioning. When asked for a comb, which they state they provide when asked, they were out.”

“The jr. suite rooms were large although we were upgraded only after we complained about our first room smelling of smoke. The hallways are very dated looking. This could be a great hotel but it needs some work. I would not have called it a 3 star.”

“The Biltmore is an older hotel conveniently located in the heart of Providence. The staff is helpful and the rooms clean. The mattress, however had lost its ability to provide support and the pillows were flat as well. Parking costs an additional $20 something a day plus tips for the valet every time you take the car out. Still the beautiful wood varnished lobby and restaurant provide a warmtn as well as a genteel look into what I imagine a gentleman's club might have looked like at the turn of the last century. There is computer access in the lobby for guests to use to check E-Mail or print documents.”
