“If I ever went to New Haven would stay here again. The staff was friendly. Remodel was going on, would like to see the final touches. The Starbucks coffee was served in the Lobby in the am was nice.”

“Nice and quite in the heart of downtown New haven. Very central to restaurants and attractions downtown. Easy access to highway also.”

“The staff was very friendly and polite and very helpful. The location was great, right in the middle of everything. Parking across the street was very convenient. The business center was a joke. The screen flickered off and on, no fax machine or other technology support. I chose not to bring a lap top for easy of travel and expected a decent business center. It was 1 computer with a wacky screen which kept going in and out and a printer that hardly worked. I had to drive to a library to finish my business report.”

“This hotel is nothing fancy but it is perfect for anyone who needs just the basics. The room was comfortable and clean and it is convenient to Yale and many restaurants.”

“Convenient location, free internet. It needs renovation pretty badly! It's very clean, though.”

“Went to visit Yale University. Able to walk everywhere. For the price it was wonderful. Older hotel but clean and well kept.”

“I prefer motels which have free parking. Most hotels have either no facilities for parking or charge extra for parking. Otherwise, the hotel was very good.”

“Large, bright room. Comfortable bed and nice decor. Only negatives were that there was no tub and the carpet needed updating.”

“A man in the next room kept me up all night. The night desk attendant couldn't speak English, so he sent what looked like maintenance man to provide security. He knocked at the door next to us and then walked away. The worst hotel I have stayed in for a long time. Unhelpful staff and dirty place.”

“The New Haven Hotel has a great location and very friendly people. However, it was noisy, and the rooms didn't feel clean because they were old and stained. The dim lighting in the bathroom made taking a shower a challenge. Parking was expensive.”

“The breakfast area on second floor was very nice, but they only serve breakfast and at the restaurant you can enter the catwalk over to the second floor of the parking garage, but the door locks and you then have to go downstairs to walk across the street. The bed wasn't too bad, but not the pillow top type.”

“Very old and dirty. The hotel has a $12.00 a day charge for parking that they do a poor job of explaining. The hotel restaurant charges $10.00 per person for continental buffet that can be had at most hotels for nothing. This hotel should be avoided!”

“For the price that I paid it was an excellent deal. The restaurant is only open for a short time for breakfast. It would be nice if it was open for dinner. The common area in the lobby is spacious and clean. There is also a common area on the top floor that is also spacious and clean.”

“Quaint, hotel with beautiful framed art and mahogany furnishings. Located near Yale University. Lots of eating places within walking distance. Old movie theatre within a block. Large old wood paneled elevator-nice. Nice white sheets and bedspreads, in good sized rooms. Clean bathrooms and shower.”

“This hotel had to be one of the most disgusting places I've ever stayed in. The entire hotel is decorated in like the Shady Rest from Petticoat Junction days. Our room had spots and stains on a clearly ancient pink carpet. The fabric on the sofa was so dirty and had so many water spots. One bedspread was so threadbare that I could see my hand through the 3 inch hole. The pictures on the wall were cardboard reproductions of the creepiest early American paintings my daughter and I had ever seen. She actually emailed a photo of one of them to her friends to confirm her assessment that the room was horrible. Teenage daughter slept in sweat pants and sweat shirt with a hood over her head because she was terrified of bed-bugs (which there were none found). Card-key entry to room took 6 to 8 tries to work. Air conditioner system ran continuously and sounded like a wind tunnel. Room smelled like a wet dog. Dryer in room did not work, thank goodness I had my own. If we had not arrived at the hotel so late in the evening and I was unfamiliar with the city, I would have packed up my bags the moment I walked into the room. Daughter had college interview the next day and we decided to write the experience off. Out of a four city tour, this was the worst of the hotels by far and the most expensive. I'd rather sleep in the park under a cardboard box.”

“Hotel was moderate at best. I had a poor location room. I was not able to see amenities other than a decent workout room was across from my room. Lobby and entrance to street look like a step up from a motel.”

“We travel lot as business travelers, my husband and myself. We have been in many hotels up and down the East coast and some of the Midwest. This was by far the worst we have seen yet. The carpets were dirty and worn. The couch in the room was worn from pink to almost white, and had stains on the seats. The bed and pillows were very comfortable.”
