“The Renaissance is a very pretty boutique hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The room we had was tiny, but we expected that in an NYC hotel. The lobby is one floor above the entrance to the hotel, which can be a bit of a hassle. The bar area and lobby are very nicely decorated and have a warm yet cosmopolitan feel. I would have enjoyed our stay much more if the hotel hadn't been so loud. I heard banging all night, and I think the age of the building was the blame. I think what I heard was the elevator, pipes, and basic moans and groans of an old building.”

“The hotel was really nice, but the room that we booked ended up being really small. We were not in the room that much, so it wasn't a problem and was good for sleeping in.”

“The hotel was clean & staff was friendly. Just wasn't too thrilled about the room. I had traveled with my sister & her daughter and my 2 daughters. The room had a roll away bed & a double (was told it would be a queen). I had asked for a room with 2 beds.”

“Very comfortable hotel. I had a double room (2 double beds) and I found it fairly spacious, although I'm not sure what a single room would have looked like. The staff was very friendly and courteous. There were some minor plumbing issues - bath tub seemed to be a bit backed up. Otherwise, I really enjoyed my stay!”

“Modern furnishings, great location, extremely helpful staff. But lobby is dimly lit, which looks depressing, and even though the hotel has been recently renovated, the carpets in guest rooms are incredibly stained, which gives a dirty feeling to the rooms even though linen and other furnishings are very nice.”

“We were very pleased with this hotel. The location was perfect for us. The lighting in the room and bathroom was very nice. Bathroom sink was an odd shape and didn't drain right. We asked for a different room because of elevator noise. They moved us to an upgraded room we were very happy with.”

“Hotel 57 was great. It was in in a great location, clean and exceptionally roomy by New York standards. I have stayed in quite a few hotels in NYC and I will go back to Hotel 57- high tech, clean, and in a great location. This is a great place to stay in NYC. I will go back.”

“It may be a lot better when building work has finished but right now it should be closed, no lobby as such, 2 lifts to the room, lifts sometimes worked, asked for housekeeping to bring missing glasses and ice
non ever came, builders everywhere. There is hope”

“The hotel is in a great location! The rooms are very small, may be room enough for two, if you cram in together. However, since the hotel wasn't full during the week, they upgraded us to a very nice, big room, big enough for the three of us that were traveling. This made all the difference in the world!”

“The hotel is very nice. Everyone is super helpful. The rooms are a bit small but comfortable. It has a very nice lounge which gets quite packed at night. The location is outstanding, right by the subway, Rockefeller and 5th Avenue shops. I would definitely stay there again.”

“Great location but lots of pretense. Friendly staff and decent restaurant downstairs. Fairly small rooms but that's expected in NYC. Could become a chick and trendy one but needs some updates. Carpets in the rooms are stained and worn out. Cheap furnishing and not a good color (medium brownish). Good bathroom appliances however. Few cut corners. Only enough coffee to make 1 cup in the room and no tea at all (restaurant downstairs charges $4 for one tea bag). One paper cup provided only. No amenities, e.g. gym, pool, common areas, etc.”

“The staff was great-- they let us check in really early so we got to take a nap after the brutal red-eye we took into JFK. The hotel is right by Central Park, features an elegant concierge area, and friendly, attentive staff. We were pleased. Our room was small, but comfortable.”

“Overall, our stay was fantastic, the staff was friendly and helpful, the room was amazing, loved the location, close to everything and they gave us an upgrade to a room with a King and a terrace which was a nice little surprise! I would not hesitate to stay at Hotel 57 again and would recommend it to my friends and family, already have in fact.”

“Great location, convenient to many attractions. Enjoyed the low key staff and service. Soothing decor and ambiance. Our room was on an upper level and was very quiet. Room was small but well appointed.”

“This hotel is well located but it charges luxury prices for ecconomy accommodations. It's business center is two cubicles in the basement surounded by construction noise. It's workout facility is across the street and is a public gym you have to pay $20 a day to use. Rooms are tiny even by NYC standards. They are too small to even accomodate a mini bar. The TV was new but on a shelf directly over the desk so that you can't watch it if someone is working at the desk. Nothing in our recently renovated room worked properly. In Nov. we had only air conditioning coming from the heat and maintanance had to come twice to fix it. Wireless Internet did not work in the room. Room key cards had to be re-magnetized every day because they kept malfunctioning. When beds were made pillows were left on the floor, trash cans were not emptied and vacuming was sporadic. Concierge and desk staff was friendly and helpfull. Would not stay there again.”
