• The hotel lobby was cute.
• Bird droppings and feathers all over the windows.

“We checked into the hotel, got to our room, and we were severely disappointed. There were bird droppings all over the windows, and bird feathers everywhere. We called the manager, but he said there were no other rooms available.”

• The bed was comfortable and the room was quieter than I expected.
• Room was too small and shabby, hidden charges for mini bar items.

“ This was the worst hotel experience I've ever had and they charged me extra for mini bar items that were not mentioned on the price list. Only noticed when I saw my bill. The rooms are small and the decor is hideous. ”

• The only chair was not comfortable.

“Good location, nice staff, OK room for New York City but the 4 Star Intercontinental Barclay around the block is far more comfortable with bigger rooms, a very comfortable chair and better linens and towels.”

• Attention to detail decor was highly evident.
• Did not have coffee pot in room.

“This is the place that appeals to the modern "hip" traveler. All decor was exquisitely finished and fine details were evident. The staff was friendly and accommodated with ease to my need for the bellman to hold my luggage for the day.”

• Could do without the music in the elevator - that's perhaps a generational difference.

“Most professional and courteous and friendly check-in staff. Was assigned a beautiful & spacious corner room in one of the top floors of the hotel. Impeccably flawless, cool & elegant room & public spaces decor, most comfortable room, very quiet and well insulated.”

• The concierge service was wonderful.

“A boutique hotel with rooms that are small but comfortable and quite clean. Our room faced the back and was quiet. No lamps and very diffused lighting so don't expect to read anything. Lovely cheerful public space with fresh flowers, wall of windows, comfy furniture in the lounge -- welcoming. Nice neighborhood and convenient for walking to many NY attractions.”

• Watch out for the automated mini bar!

“The W Hotel at Lexington is in a great location. Staff is very friendly. Rooms are well appointed, clean and comfortable. Mostly singles and couples in the hotel. Though modern the public rooms had a warmth that was lacking in the stark decor of the guest rooms.”

• Great location and very clean.
• Bathroom shower did not have method to prevent water from flowing all over rest of floor.

“Very clean hotel. Great location. Nice modern decor. Comfortable bed. Main problem was shower did not have good method to keep water inside shower area. Relied only on shower curtain. Two towels were needed to keep water from running onto the rest of bathroom floor.”

• It was more of a romantic-couples hotel which was a shock.

“The hotel would have been fine for a romantic, couples trip. I spent a lot of time apologizing. Thank goodness I didn't have my children with.”

• Location and helpfulness of concierge.
• Use of room key card in elevator for security; often did not work; rooms dark.

“Super location. Only downside was dark rooms (need more lighting) without desk. Rooms small but not unlike other NYC hotels. Using key cards in elevator problematic; often took two or three swipes for key cards to work. However, in my case, the value for the price was excellent.”

• Convenient, comfortable and
  great linens.
• The lighting throughout was too dim, but especially in bedroom and bathroom.

“Very good overall. Except for the lighting issue which made it hard to read and to put on makeup, I would definitely stay there again. Very convenient location and pleasant staff.”

• The decor was pleasing.
• Room size so small were claustrophobic; no designer tricks could mitigate the smallness. Lighting impossible for reading.

“Room size barely comfortable for one person never mind two people. Lots of designer artifice could not hide that this is not a 4 star hotel. Nice robes in bathroom but cheap hair dryer noisy as jet engine. Large TV screen dominates ultra small room as well as insufficient light for reading. Could not walk around bed, had to do the sideway shuffle to get to other side and duck under TV. Heating and cooling as noisy as hair dryer. Staff indifferent at front desk and untrained for lounge service. Very disappointing.”

• The gym was great; the car service wonderful; the service terrific.
• Room was slightly small but acceptable for NYC.

“I loved the location of the W on Lex. Close to 2 subways and shopping. All staff was oh so nice. The gym was small but nice; water and apples in the lobby were a nice touch. Lobby bar is pretty.”

• The bed was the most comfortable bed imaginable, the room was very trendy, the location was priceless.
• The staff was very gruff in their interactions, anything but friendly.

“I highly recommend this hotel first and foremost for its location. It is in such a great neighbourhood for shopping, nightlife, tourist attractions. Subway within two blocks, walking to major shopping within a couple of blocks and an area that you feel comfortable walking around in the late evening- always lots of people about and lots of choices for restaraunts and bars. The room itself was small, but really well layed out. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the air unit for the room drowns out the street noise nicely. Lots of cute extras in the room but no coffee maker. The staff was incredibly, suprisingly unfriendly but that didn't take away from the hotel enough that I would hesitate to recommend it. It was a great choice and I would stay there again. Location.”
