  • Rooms are quite small.

“This is a beautiful, old and luxurious hotel. The rooms are small, but this is New York, so that it is to be expected. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It is one block away from 5th Avenue and very close to Rockefeller Center. I would recommend it to anyone.”

  • The history and grandness.
  • The suite was not up to today's standards for luxury.

“Loved the location. The suite was old and tired. Old style furniture and amenities. Old style TV etc. Should have been much nicer.”

  • Great location.
  • Overpriced for level of expected service and amenities.

“Overall review: overpriced for level of expected service and amenities. We were never greeted at the main entrance and no one ever offered to help with luggage or hail a taxi for us. My check-in was quick, but I had intentionally added on 2 days to my stay and I made this obvious at the reception desk so as I would hopefully not have any problems with length of stay; however, my room keys were deactivated mid-stay (even though I had already paid for the rooms). Very inconvenient. They even confiscated my mini-bar key right out of my room even though I had never used the mini-bar. The rooms are small (typical of NYC), but the furnishings have a ways to go with catching up with the times. No Flat Screen TVs in most rooms at the Waldorf-Astoria.”

  • Hotel had great sheets and mattress, a must for me!
  • Bathroom was a bit awkward had to walk in and then turn around to close the door.

“Hotel was a great place to stay. Lots of activities, meetings, and benefits during the days I was there, but never seemed too crowded. The elevators were very quick and the cleaning staff kept all public areas tidy. I would definitely stay there again hopefully at a discounted price!”

  • Location.
  • Slightly shabby in certain areas of the room and common areas.

“It was convenient to the places we were visiting but I've stayed in better hotels in the 'sticks' for a fraction of the price. The general feel of the hotel and rooms was shabby.”

  • Beautiful rooms.
  • Expensive.

“A new York experience! A beautiful hotel right in Manhattan. If you have the chance, experience this place. The rooms are beautiful. Thick towels, bathrobes, a deep tub, exquisite beds and sheets and an amazing hotel staff. It's a little expensive, but worth it to be treated like royalty.”

  • For the amount you pay, you are getting the history of the hotel.
  • Everything was from Wi-Fi to the gym is an extra expensive charge.

“It is a beautiful hotel. Things that are complementary at 2 star hotels are a 12.00 dollar charge here, including internet.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[7] • Location:[9]

  • Good safe location, clean.
  • Oscar's, lack of good quick dining spaces.

“Loved the location and room size and facilities, Oscar's for Sunday breakfast was appalling, discourteous staff, coffee cold and horrible and food not properly cooked. No service! Would stay in hotel again but won't eat there ever.”

Cleanliness:[3] • Staff:[1] • Location:[9]

  • The lobby is gorgeous as are some of the other more public spaces, bellman nice.
  • A 15 minute wait to register, elevator broke, waiter surly, staff in a hurry, room bathroom marginal, not at all what Id expect or am used to.

“The Waldorf did not meet my quality expectations from either a facility or service perspective. The room itself was standard hotel fare, but the bathroom had a hole in the wall where the switch for a fan should be, meaning there was no fan. The sink and walls showed their age and repair as did the public restroom in the lobby. It is the service issues however that are the most disappointing. There were long wait times to register, to get our car at the end of the stay. Most questions we asked were responded to in a very curt, 'you're bothering me I'm busy', or 'how could you be so stupid' tone. I realize its New York, but please. I expected so much more. I have stayed there in the past and have stayed at 5 star hotels across the world. This was very disappointing. I would not choose to stay there again”

  • Professional, courteous, prompt service, comfortable room and good location.
  • Poor reception with rented movies and games.

“Very impressed with the hotel, its employees and the service. My daughter and I spent an overnight there and we were very comfortable with all the amenities the hotel had to offer. Would go there again and would recommend to anyone staying in NYC.”

  • Amazing staff service and fabulous atmosphere.
  • Long waits for reception/concierge services.

“I was surprised by the impressive size and quality of my room for a NYC hotel. I was given a first class accommodation despite the low fare paid.”

Cleanliness:[8] • Staff:[8] • Location:[8]

  • Staff were friendly.
  • Room was very small, shower did not work properly, and breakfast was overpriced and underwhelming.

“I had looked forward to staying at the Waldorf Astoria, but found my stay a little disappointing. The room was tiny and the shower did not work properly. We were placed in a room next to the elevator, so we heard it running all night. We ate breakfast at Peacock Alley and it was very unimpressive. For a big bill, we received rubbery eggs and poor wait service. The host and hostess, however, were more attentive and friendly.”

  • Elegant and spacious with beautiful furnishings.
  • Did not have coffee maker in room.

“I would definitely come back to the Waldorf. The hotel was very clean and comfortable. I felt a sense of elegance that some of the newer hotels lack. The location couldn't have been better. We walked to the theater, shopping and wonderful restaurants.”

  • It's a beautiful, art decor, grand hotel with great location.

“If you are going to NYC and you want a nice hotel in a great location for a good price, I would stay here.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[8] • Location:[7]

  • Evoked feelings of traditional opulence.
  • Noisy elevators.

“Well worth a visit and not just for the name. The hotel is still a work in progress in places, but some of the public areas are amazing. Just remember that it is an older hotel, so may have some quirks that you wouldn't encounter in more modern establishments, but what character.”
