  • Location.
  • Room was microscopic.

“Excellent location within five minutes of the Theater District. Rooms are tiny, even by New York standards. We were told that the bed was queen size, but seemed to be smaller. Room was not particularly clean.”

  • Its history and atmosphere and location.
  • The room was a bit noisy.

“The Algonquin is a fabulous historic hotel full of atmosphere and ghosts of literary past. Check out the wall paper in the hallways.”

  • Beautiful close to Times Square.
  • Construction starting at 7 am. Manager was very uncaring and not honest in her statements.

“The room was very small. My kids bedroom is larger. Sleeping well until 6:45 am. When construction workers started talking and yelling outside our window. Then work started at 7 and that was the end of sleep. If you stay there don't plan on staying out late to enjoy the city. Great place to stay if you plan to go to NBC Today show. You will be gone before noise starts. Manager was very uncaring, and made untrue statements.”

  • Leaving it.
  • Cramped, inflexible.

“The bathroom door did not close, and if it did, you could get stuck in the bathroom. The rooms are tiny. The key system was not working and had to have a hotel person open the room door. The front desk was inflexible in offering solutions.”

  • Location.
  • Small room, looks like a youth hostel. It's definitely not a 4 star hotel.

“It's a youth hostel, not a 4 star hotel. The room is as the same size as a bath room. Seriously, I am not joking.”

“Great and would love to stay there again.”

  • The room was nicely appointed.
  • No central air conditioning.

“The window air conditioner was so noisy, the noise from construction so loud and the lights from the street so bright that it made sleeping next to impossible despite a comfortable bed and lovely linens.”

  • The check in/out process was fast.
  • The room was very small, even though it was one of the biggest rooms they had.

“Overall it was good for the price I paid through priceline. I have no complaints other than the room being smaller than what I expected. The staff was very accomodating and friendly. I would recommend for a business stay.”

  • Historic and beautifully restored. Very accommodating.
  • The parking was very expensive.

“The Algonquin is a lovely, historic hotel in Midtown Manhattan. The hotel cat was at the door awaiting our arrival. The lobby has free entertainment (piano, singing, show tunes, etc.) most evenings and is a fun place to hang out to have a drink and relax. All of the rooms have little sayings from the literati of the Algonquin's heyday.”

  • Location.
  • Room was very small, wallpaper in the bathroom was coming off the wall.

“OK not great. room was so small you couldn't move.”

  • The location was really good.
  • The staff
was very rude and the rooms very small.

“The hotel was located in a very good location but the rooms are very small and also the bath room doesn't even have a bath tub. Some of the staff of the hotel were very rude and even one of them was asking for tip rudely when I didn't have American money.”

  • The tea room and guest room where luxurious. A bit old world but perfect.

“Walking in you feel its early history in the 1900s. It was all very elegant. I ordered room service the night
I arrived, had sea bass and risotto dinner, it was fantastic. I really felt like
I was in NYC even in the privacy of my room. I love this hotel.”

  • The bed was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of it.
  • Room service was pricey.

“Overall our experience was very good. The room cleaners were not very friendly but everyone else was great.”

  • Front desk staff very accommodating, and a cute hotel cat.
  • Room a bit smallish.

“Cute old school boutique hotel - service oriented and intimate.”

  • The bed was so outstandingly comfy! LOVED the tub!
  • Wished the free coffee in lobby was longer than an hour! Great coffee!

“I have stayed at the Algonquin before many years ago and it was still as good as it was back then. The people that stay in this hotel are regulars, which i totally see why. Also I was traveling alone (woman) and felt very safe! That is extremely important to me!”

  • Convenient location, friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, reasonable price.

“Convenient location, friendly staff, extremely clean and comfortable rooms with new, up-to-date amenities (European-style pillows/comforter, flat-screen television with satellite service, computer hook-ups, etc.), reasonable price. I really appreciated the fact that they provided me with an umbrella when it was raining.”

  • The amazing staff and parking garage across the street.
  • Room was the smallest I've ever seen.

“The location is great, staff is amazing. The bartender downstairs is a great host as well as the people at the front desk. The room was extremely small, but very clean with a comfortable mattress and nice shower.”
