• The pool area had a very rustic look and feel.
• The parking garage was a bit confusing and very dark at night.

“A beautiful hotel inside and out located in the heart of Lake Placid! The lobby was beautifully decorated with a rustic yet modern feel. Our room was very pretty, clean, and comfortable. It had a balcony which boasted a gorgeous view of Mirror Lake.”

• Right in the center of lake placid. Walk to almost everything. Shuttle available to whiteface mountain.
• Parking is miserable. Garages are cramped and there are not nearly enough spots.

“My bad first impression was almost entirely overcome by the end of my trip. I took a winter trip and when I opened the door, I saw salt tracks all over the floor. Further, the heat was all off and so my room was about 40 degrees and took nearly 2 hours to fully heat up to the 70 or so I was looking for. The last of the bad impression was made when I discovered that only one wing of the hotel had wireless internet and that the extended stay suites did not. Fixes--once Sunday morning came around, many cars left and that freed up a number of spots (and it turned out that my suite actually had a reserved spot--it was just being used when I arrived), so parking was much less of a hassle. The room was spotlessly cleaned during the first day's service. Temperature held out once it came up. Wireless internet was available in the lobby/common room. Good stuff about this hotel: location is great. Smack in the middle of lake placid allows walking to nearly everything (so once you park, you may not need to drive your car again the rest of the trip). There is a shuttle available to whiteface mountain. The pool/spa area was clean and in good repair. Attached restaurant, bar/nightclub and mini-strip mall allow a variety of activities without going outside if weather becomes bad. I estimate about 40 restaurants within about a 20 minute walk and about 10 of them are within 5 minutes. I ended up paying about $15 a night above what I would have paid for the economy-lodge about a mile outside town which was much more than worth it. This hotel will be at the top of my list for my next lake placid stay. Highly recommended.”

• Location right on the lake with spectacular views, and easy walking to dining and meeting venues.
• While clean and well maintained, the hotel is showing some of its age.

“Loved it, would stay in it again gladly while on business or personal travel. The most fastidious of travelers might not prefer it's mom-and-pop feeling.”

• The Amenities provided for a very pleasant stay. The staff was very pleasant and natural.
• 350 count sheets would be a nice addition.

“The Golden Arrow Hotel was such a pleasant experience that we canceled reservations at another hotel in the area and revisited this Best Western, and we were thrilled to come back and share the experience with other additional family members. Everyone that we came in contact with, from the front lobby staff to every working member were professional and kind. It was clean, updated, and the views were glorious. A positive experience all around. As a mother traveling alone with my children, I felt safe and quite comfortable. When my husband joined us during our return trip we all enjoyed the extras to the fullest. Great value for the money.”

• Great location at scenic site.
• Indoor pool was not sufficiently heated to be enjoyable.

“Very nice hotel in the heart of Lake Placid, great view of Mirror Lake and a nice beach with amenities. The room was clean and well equipped, all in all an excellent experience.”

• A very reasonable price for the best room I have ever stayed in.
• Hotel floor map could be a little bit more clear.

“This hotel was amazing. I took my girlfriend here during spring break for a little rest and relaxation. it was perfect. Our room had a private deck that overlooked an ice covered lake. The decor, inside the room and out, made us feel very comfortable. The location couldn't be better, as it sits right in the middle of town. The amenities, the food, the value. I just cannot say enough good things about this hotel.”

“Wonderful location at the start of Main Street. Great amenities including access to Mirror lake and a balcony. The only problem was that the air conditioning was insufficient.”
