  • Location.
  • Scalding hot water, no insulation from street noise, and claustrophobic.

“So sad and dismal that I can't ever imagine this building was new. Carpet seemed as if it had been installed used. No Wi-Fi.”

  • It was close to Times Square and economical.
  • It was tiny and smelled bad.

“It is close to Times Square, but old with small rooms. The whole place had a dank, sour smell. The thermostat didn't work, I had to stand on the bed to adjust the window unit; and the door wouldn't lock (they sent someone up to fix it). No vending machines, restaurant was shut down and I found bedbugs. Not going to stay there again - they need a serious overhaul as most Red Roof Inns are twice as nice.”

  • The bathroom was bigger than the bedrooms.

“Downstairs lobby was completely torn up, staff very slow, bedroom was small and air conditioner had to be turned on by climbing on a chair to reach, musty odor in room.”

  • Convenient to the theaters.
  • Had to put our suitcases on the floor to open them.

“The hotel was clean, the room was very small and cramped. The people were friendly, helpful, we would recommend the hotel if you were only using the room as a place to sleep, not as a place to relax and enjoy the ambiance.”

  • Convenient location.
  • Scruffiest hotel I've seen.

“Tiny rooms, dirty bathrooms, scruffy halls and common areas. Is this place trying for Bowery Ambiance? Probably nice 30 years ago but deferred maintenance and neglect are ruining this property. Convenient location, tiny rooms, dirty bathrooms.”

  • The king size beds are amazing! The hotel is under construction but still nice.
  • Small elevator.

“This hotel was great. The location is right off of the square in the theater district and was located right across the street from Chicago. I think once this hotel is done with remodeling it will be a great hotel. The beds I think are memory foam but it was the best bed I have ever slept in. It is just what we needed after lots of walking. The rooms are a little small but great for two people. The hotel staff was super helpful. Also you can check your bags for like $2.00 a bag for as long as you need which was great on our last day.”

  • Room was compact but functional.
  • The lobby, elevator and steps were run-down looking.

“From what I've seen in New York, it was pretty decent.
If you looking for something to do other than sleep, you'll have to go elsewhere.”

  • The proximity to Broadway shows
  • Room was not checked prior to checking in had to be moved

“The Mayfair Hotel staff was great and never showed to be negative and always assisted when needed. When I first arrived in the room, the television did not work and was confined behind a plate glass window. I was then moved to another room at my request. I really liked the fact that they held our luggage prior to check-in and after checking out. It made everything that much easier. The place was very clean and very quiet. I never heard any other guests.”

  • Clean, good service and well located.
  • Elevator small.

“I was pleased with this two star hotel in the theatre district. It was clean, the service was friendly and helpful, and the location was perfect. The rooms are very small, but nevertheless, nice.”

  • Clean, friendly and good for tourists that just wanted a place to sleep.
  • No breakfast.

“The rooms are realy small, but if your out all day, not a problem. Great is, that they have a computer with printer in every room. The hotel presents its self as a very clean and friendly place.”

  • The location was great for what I need to do.
  • Everything else about the hotel was awful.

“I will never stay there again. The rooms are not charming, the decoration is from when the hotel was build, the air conditioning worked poorly. It was a bad experience.”

  • It's location.
  • No restaurant in hotel.

“Very convenient location to all Broadway plays and Times Square. Had remodeling work being done at the time we were staying, so restaurant was closed.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[10]

  • Decor in halls and room, cupboards for clothes, location.
  • Our room was noisy, near elevator, low water pressure!

“This hotel has an excellent location, clean, small, comfortable rooms with nice decoration. Staff was friendly and helpful. Our room had an iron and ironing board and hair dryer in addition to television, AC and clock radio. There was a lot of cupboard space to store our clothes/purchases, although actual size of room was quite small. Ask for room down a hallway away from elevator and main stairwell as the sound of people traffic and the elevator was loud. The water pressure is low, so don't lather up the hair too much. This hotel was more than the basics - it had character in the old photographs in the hallway and the decor in the room. It was exactly what we were hoping for, given the price point and location.”
