“The New Yorker is very well located and the general condition of the hotel is good. Gym is a bit tired but it is a plus. We asked the room as a part of package flight from Europe + 5 nights hotel, but I trust that the hotel itself is good value for money. However, we were very disappointed by the staff attitude. Apart from the friendly cleaners, most of the staff was cold, distant or even abrupt with us. Starting from check-in, to the room 20 minutes later. Had a similar experience in the restaurant which we left before ordering food considering the not bothered attitude of the staff.”

“Basically a hotel designed for convention-goers and tourists. Undergoing renovations that are making it cosmetically more appealing. The neighborhood, while convenient, is borderline sleazy. All NY hotels are outrageously expensive, and this one is less so - but don't expect charm or a decent internet connection. Undecorated bits like the laundry room are a disgrace.”

“Location was fantastic and easy to get to sites, subways, and things we wanted to do. The room was clean and met our needs. No complaints whatsoever.”

“Room was small, with no comfort accommodations such as coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator. Could use a makeover, but it was clean considering it's age. It was an enjoyable stay overall.”

“We had to check out within 2 hours because of the quality of our room and the hotel. The walls are paper thing. There is no privacy. You can hear everything and there's hardly any space to move in the room. The bed was completely 'motel-ish' and the bedspread looked like it hadn't been washed in years. I felt dirty just being in the room and after 2 hours of trying to endure the room, we just had to call it quits.”

“They have renovated rooms and non-renovated rooms. If you ask to be moved to a renovated floor, the staff and especially the manager will treat you like dirt.”

“The hotel was great except for the fact that it was so difficult to get a non smoking room. I called 24 hours in advance, and then upon check in requested again and they refused. It was not until my eyes started to well up with tears while I begged them, that they conceded. that is utterly ridiculous.”

“The renovated bedrooms were beautiful and modern. The flat screen TVs were great as well. The location was perfect and they had valet parking for $30 a night. However the staff was a bit rude answering questions I had. Also, for a renovated room, the bathroom had chipping wall paint and looked dingy.”

“For an old midtown hotel, it's not bad. The staff was nice and the rooms are clean. And considering the location, the hotel was pretty quiet. They are currently remodeling, so there are some lobby inconveniences, but that is not a major issue. Be careful with the parking. I caught them adding miles to my car. They added nine miles to a car that should have been sitting over night without being driven. The parking people are not nice and need to be watched carefully. Just write down your odometer settings before you give them your car!”

“The rooms were clean, but quite small. Bathrooms were very small, as well. No place to put toiletries, quite cumbersome. Tiny closet space for two people.”

“I don't know what was worse the gross room or the gross customer service. They put me in a roach room and there answer for fixing that was to put me in a gross smoking room. Management was useless.”

“While the rooms were in pretty poor condition - hadn't seen a coat of paint in a while (they claimed they were remodeling), if you don't plan on spending time in your hotel room (and hopefully you don't if you're in NYC) this hotel's location is perfect - right across from Penn station and near Broadway. Also the staff was very friendly, a lot more so than, well, most other New York City Hotels.”

“When I arrived they claimed I did not have a reservation. Even after seeing it, it wasn't clear for about 20 minutes whether they would give me a room or not. Not at all friendly. Finally, they became friendlier when they assigned me a room, and gave me what they called a better room. The room was a corner room, spacious for new York city, but still kind of dreary. The hallway leading to the room was dreadful. However, the fitness room was one of the best Iżve ever seen in a hotel. The hotel is very large and the people staying there are remarkably unfriendly. The checkout line was slow; I finally gave up and filled out the express checkout info instead.”

“It was an awful hotel. I would never stay at this kind of hotel even if it were less than 100. I paid 166 for it and it was not worth .00 it was shabby, worn and in terrible condition. It was so hot that I had to run the a/c all night just to cool the room. Take this hotel off your list as a 2 star. It is a zero star.”
