• The proximity of the beach.
• The staff specifically the young lady that checked us in.

“I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. I find the rate charged is way too high for such a filthy un kept, no amenity hotel.”

• Nothing at all.
• Dirty, looks like a crack hotel, and bed bugs.

“My family and I stayed at this hotel for its location and prices. Our stay was very unfortunate. My daughter slept on the pull out couch, and after 2 days was completely covered with bites. My husband and I slept in the other room, same for me covered with burning, itchy bites. Actually found live and dead bedbugs in both beds. We slept on top of the comforters, we always bring our own blankets and pillows. So after we started getting bitten, we pulled the comforter off and at the head of the sheet in my husband and my bed it looked to be a bad case of ring around the collar. Like the sheets weren't laundered in months. I called the health dept and told staff. The health dept came in while we were packing out things up and found more live bedbugs. I told the family, because people shouldn't have to go through any thing like that. Its ok I'm suing. Please don't go to this motel. Beware of bed bugs in more hotels in Virginia beach on the ocean! There is a lot more of them than just this one. I work front desk on the ocean front now,and seen a lot of terrible things.”

“Bed was hard, room was funky, but the staff was great--they were attentive and helpful and kind, and having friendly folks at the Helm makes up for the less than 4 star accommodations.”

• Has a nice size kitchen and living room, next to the beach, good location to shops and restaurants.
• The owner/manager.

“The owner of hotel is crazy and cheap. He told us to close the blinds because of the ac. I told him I would not close the blind because I wanted to see the sun light and asked why he would ask such a question like that. He later called and said we were not allowed to cook fish in the room, I explained that we had not and thought to my self that I had not seen or told that before getting the room.”

“I recommend taking cleaning products for the bathroom and the elevator was very dirty and slow but over all it was ok, the staff is very nice and helpful. I might stay there again.”

• Great location - two blocks from boardwalk.
• Old. Borderlines clean. No facilities.

“Not a bad two-night stay for the price. This hotel needs a major renovation in the very near future. Great location. Max five-minute walk to the beach. Like the full size fridge and kitchenette. But no microwave. Don't look too closely at the cleanliness. Friendly and helpful staff. Assuming the price stays low, I would stay here again, but not with children.”

• This hotel was a lot cleaner and the room was a lot bigger than I was expecting.
• The bathroom was tiny.

“Everything in the room was clean and could comfortably fit a family of 4. There was a full size fridge, sink, and two burner stove. The front desk staff was friendly and helpful. It was only a block from the beach and there were plenty of restaurants and shops very close by. I would definitely stay here again.”

• Beds were uncomfortable.

“This hotel was good for us. It was clean and was very basic. It could have had a clock and the oven needed to be cleaned. It was very close to the beach. We stayed here last year and will probably stay again.”

• Location to beach as well as to shopping and dining.
• The room was dirty, housekeeping needs improved.

“The outside of the hotel is nice looks newly painted, pool is located on the third floor and is in great condition. The rooms however, upon entry to the room we found a half smoked pack of cigarettes, crushed up beer cans and a few playing cards shoved up underneath the pull out sofa bed in the living room. The floors could have used a good vacuuming as well. There was a huge gap around the door which let in a lot of outside light and was a safety concern. I believe with just some extra cleaning time and some general maintenance would really help.”

• The staff was super friendly and helpful! The location is awesome. The rooms are a good size with a kitchen and pullout couch.
• It was just really old, dirty and grimy. It needs to be detailed, coaxed, or best completely renovated.

“The location is great; the staff is super! The rooms are a good size if you travel with kids. The pullout couch and kitchenette comes in handy. But the smell. And all those mysterious spots on the furniture, walls, kitchen, carpets. It's one of those hotels you want to keep your socks on when walking around. But the kids were clueless, loved the cartoon channels and being so close to the beach, shops, restaurants etc. Mommy, on the other hand, didn't get much sleep.”

• Everything, parking so did the room.

“The hotel was overall stunk. It was a big let down some of the economy hotels around it seemed to be better. It seemed like it was the worst economy hotel in the immediate area. I would not recommend staying there. Staff was rude. There was no continental breakfast as it said. Parking garage was really hard to maneuver. The rooms were not really clean and also the clean staff came into room even with the do not disturb sign.”

• One block from the beach.
• Was dirty with poor maintenance.

“This hotel was one block from the beach. The rooms were old, poorly patched holes in the walls, cabinet doors were sticky as if they have never been cleaned. It was facing the opposite side of the beach and for another $20 far nicer hotel/motels were on the beach that appear far more maintained.”

• Close to the ocean full size fridge.
• Elevator was not working railing on balcony unsafe.

“The front lobby and breakfast area leads a lot to be desired. The elevator was broken when we got there and had to carry luggage and cooler up to flights of stairs. We were not in the room very much during the day, so we tolerated sleeping there. Shower curtain had mold on it and the tub looked unclean. Close to the ocean front.”

“Roadway Inn is run-down and old. Light fixtures had no plugs, therefore no light. The elevator was not working when we first arrived and we were on the fifth floor. The only nice thing about the place is that it is close to the beach.”
