“Although this is a small, older hotel (less than 50 rooms) it has been remodeled in the past year or so and the rooms were very clean and nice. They also have a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. All rooms are ocean view and right on the boardwalk.”

“As with many of the reviews here, this hotel was just fine - clean, convenient, comfy ("double beds" are a little small but doable for two people), and quiet. The staff was 100% very nice - from high to low friendly to a tee - could not be beat. One negative, and it was sufficiently negative to note in an otherwise glowing review, was that the toilet in the (very clean!) bathroom was one of the low models where water level is somewhat close to the top edge. In and of itself this is not a problem however, for some unknown reason, the apparently-new toilet seat was one of those cheap plastic jobs that actually extended BELOW the ceramic edge. Combine relatively-high water level with relatively-low seat level (REALLY low) and any absolutely-normal male is asking for a cold surprise anytime they sit on the seat to use the toilet! This became a VERY irritating distraction from the otherwise good quality of the room/hotel/staff and was brought up with management twice. Our stay there is now over by the time this review is read they may have done something about it; I do not know if this problem was hotel-wide or simply our room. Otherwise, the hotel was everything and more than we expected and we would heartily recommend it!”

“Our family stayed here for a week in early June,06. This hotel more than lived up to the most important qualities. I look for cleanliness and a friendly, helpful staff. The rooms were extremely clean along with the pool and pool area. The breakfast area was also very clean and the breakfast was fine for a continental breakfast. They did miss cleaning our room one day, they did only apologize 3 or 4 times. Yes we had a minor problem with the tub drain and the place is 3 floors with no elevator but as one reviewer stated, its not a brand new hotel, sometimes you just work around those things. Believe, I have stayed at a lot fancier places and had more problems. I cannot see giving this place less than an excellent ranking! Hope to get back soon. ”

“Our stay at the Econo Lodge on the Ocean was a wonderful one. I am 65 years old and I remember our first time staying at this Econo Lodge in the 1980's when it was a lot different from today. The staff there were super friendly and very helpful on giving us some nearby attractions and restaurants. The room was very clean and had a great view of the beach and boardwalk from out 3rd floor balcony. There was a nice outside pool that was perfect with our grandchildren. The value for our stay was very affordable and we could afford and extra night than what was originally planned. We had a great stay, I will be making another reservation for next year. ”

“Our family and I had a wonderful time at the Econo Lodge on the Ocean. When we first drove up, I had thought I had made a misjudgement. We arrived around 2:00 PM which was an hour before check in time and we were still able to get to our room. The room was spotless and extremely clean. We were placed on the ground floor, but the view didn't matter to us. There was a nice patio out in front of the room which takes you out to the beach and boardwalk. The pool was very relaxing and was fun to play around in. The staff couldn't have been any better in their service and their work. I would highly reccommend this place to anyone and we would stay there anytime again. ”

“It was our first time being in Virginia Beach. We chose the Econo Lodge at 28th street. It was a small, but exceptionally clean motel. Checking in was smooth and easy. Our room was on the third floor with a balcony facing the boardwalk and beach. The heated outdoor pool was well kept and we were able to at least swim in it at least once a day. There was a really hot day where some of us got to use the sundeck located on the second floor. The staff at the Econo Lodge were very friendly and helpful in making our stay even better. The Econo Lodge is conviently located near great shops and restaurants, and we were a block away from where the Trolley had stopped. We will be returning next year for our next stay. ”
