  • The front desk gave us hot cookies.
  • The toilet did not work well; the hall smelled of smoke.

“The hall to the rooms smelled of smoke as soon as you get off of the elevator. The toilet wouldn't flush.”

  • Nice rooms.
  • Scheduled an evening event and took no consideration of the lack of parking that would ensue, only response: "we're really sorry".

“Nice property, but parking is horrendous, and they make no effort to take this into account when scheduling mid-week events.”

  • Ample room.
  • Did not keep word to reserve a king bed for me,
    I did call ahead.

“Staff not able to help with another room after they confirmed that
I would have a king size bed - they said that they sold out through their own reservation line”

  • Lobby was pretty.
  • The room was not as pictured online.

“I was disappointed with the quality of the room. I walked into the lobby and was excited. When I got to my room I was disappointed. The room was very small hardly no room to move around. I stayed at the Wyndham the week before and it was the best hotel experience I've had in years.”

  • Pool water temp 85+ F. Room had nice towels, decor.
  • Pool air temp could be warmer, hole in skylight at pool, needs fixing.

“Overall a pretty clean, comfortable quiet hotel compared to many I have stayed at Virginia Beach, pretty good location, nice towels both at the pool and room, staff friendly, exterior does need an update, pool area nice except the hole in the skylight, restaurant on site a plus.”

“I didn't get to go to Virgina because of an unforeseen emergency. I don't think I'll be booking anymore because not only did I not have the option of obtaining a refund, I didn't even have the option of arriving on a different date or letting a family member use the room in my place. That was a complete waste of my money. In this economy, none has that kind of money to waste.”

  • Doubletree chain is good for Priceline price was excellent value.
  • Compared to high quality, a/c and details of worn out items.

“Overall a nice hotel with 3-star, not 3.5-star finishes although it does have many of the 3.5-star amenities. Bed was comfy, warm cookie-bravo, nice staff. A/c was loud and low-tech. Some items in bathroom details were low-end or worn out and in stark contrast with the rest of the nice things. Like a Mercedes with hub caps. Not critical but noticeable.”

  • It was in VA Beach.
  • The bathroom was in dis-repair and the shower was not hot.

“I would not recommend this hotel if you are looking for three-star accommodations. The room was rather small, and the bathroom facilities were in dis-repair. There was no complimentary breakfast (you can find this amenity at a Hampton). My entire experience was a complete disappointment! I would not recommend this Doubletree to anyone unless you only need a place to lay your head.”

  • Went something wrong the staff was very responsive.
  • We got a smoking room the first night, hotel smelled strange, halls need better lighting.

“ Hotel is located 8 blocks from beach, it took us 30 minutes to walk each way. Hotel is pet friendly, and many had pets which made the hotel and room smell like them. Staff is friendly and responsive in times when negative situations arise. Decent restaurant-kind of expensive, but not many people so no lines. ”

  • Loud and barking dogs.

“We must have gotten put on the floor where they put all the people with pets because barking dogs woke me up a couple of times. We've stayed at this hotel before and had a fridge and microwave in the room but this time they weren't in the room which is a major bummer for us.”

  • Very clean and pleasant.
  • Outrageous charge for in-room internet connection!

“Everything about this hotel was excellent, except an outrageous charge of $10/day for in-room internet connection. That alone would keep me from staying there again.”

  • The bed was awesome. Very comfortable.
  • No microwave or fridge. Window too small.

“The Doubletree was a real surprise to me. The room was fantastic except for not having a microwave or frig in the room. Those would be a great asset. Would like the shuttle to run a longer season. Maybe the whole month of September. Some guests would like a hot tub.”

  • staff tried to resolve problems - no air conditioning, no shower curtain
  • two double beds!, cold pool, not near beach, air not working, fee for internet

“This hotel is NOT anywhere near the beach, a fee for internet, bathroom is very small, pool was cold, no jacuzzi, no micro or frig in room, two DOUBLE beds, very poor experience.”

“This was a very nice hotel in its time. The rooms need to be updated. The staff is very good at what they do. The restaurant was below standard. The food for breakfast buffet was cold and had no taste.”

  • Lobby made a nice impression
  • My Bathroom needs serious attention

“The hotel lobby and restaurant very nice and clean, Pool water very nice, however area not clean crumbs on tables , towels left on chairs no attendant...Room was nice, bathroom door paint scraped of and vainer coming off, Ceiling had a previous leak and was partially painted....Elevators needed to be cleaned and swept also lobby areas for each floor needed to be sweep and need attention”

  • the horel is very clean with big enough room for two with modern furniture.
  • need to update the TV and some in bathroom, may be add refrigrater. custemor service on front desk is poor. one waitres in the dinner unprofesional.

“This was a great hotel. We enjoyed the friendly shuttle service to the beach and our room was quiet, clean and large. They did not have a fridge in the room we were given two double beds (not our favorite choice for a romantic get a way).”

  • Pet friendly and shuttle bus to the beach every 30 minutes!
  • The floor in my room felt wet the whole time and key cards are touchy.

“I was unsure about being 8 blocks from the beach, but the shuttle bus every 30 minutes made the location ideal. Not only did we get a great deal on the room, I felt calm, relaxed, and slightly secluded without feeling cut-off from fun activities.”
