• The staff was excellent.
• The pool and bar were not open long enough.

“This hotel is great. The service is excellent. The lobby coffee was just worth the price of the hotel. It is near the interstate and not hard to find and the staff recommended some wonderful ideas for my two year old son and me. I would not stay anywhere else while in Virginia.”

• Front office staff was great pool was nice.
• Looked a little shabby from the outside.

“Front office staff was great pool is pretty big had bbq grills in case you wanted to grill. Overall we had a nice time and would stay there again :).”

• Dirty, star rating was much less, grounds dirty and housekeeping poor, pool gross and misleading pics of hotel.

“The pool was under construction and I checked that prior to arrival and it was suppose to be finished. The hotel was under construction and dirty and noisy.”

• Nice place, nice cafeteria like restaurant.
• Bed was the most uncomfortable experience ever!

“Emergency place to stay. Funeral. Not the happiest time but staff were friendly and stay did not feel hurried. Had to pay extra for son and extra $15 on credit card for incidentals.”

• The endless morning coffee downstairs.
• They didn't clean my room the first night. It's very close to the interstate and you can hear traffic all night.

“The folks at the Point Plaza hotel are very nice. The hotel itself is aging but clean. It's a good, economical choice, though not suitable for romance.”

• The location is right off the highway and close to the airport.
• The bathroom is about as basic as you can get clean, but nothing to recommend it.

“For someone looking to crash for a night before taking a flight out of Newport News Williamsburg Airport, this is a good place as any in the local area. The hotel is a two story, typically motel-ish type place you would see off any major highway. The lobby is very basic and the rooms like those of any budget hotel (think dark floral patterned bedspreads, fat TVs in cabinets, dingy bathrooms). But it is clean, relatively quiet for the person just looking to stay the evening before heading on. Two good points to make: breakfast is served in the on-site restaurant beginning at 6:00, which is great if you have an early flight, and there is a PC right there in the lobby that you can use to check e-mails and such. Even the 3.5 star hotels did not offer that.”

“The hotel location was a plus in proximity to the interstate but the cleanliness of the room was marginal at best. The staff was friendly and helpful. A no frills type of accommodation.”

• Parking.

“A very nice staff when you walk in, clean room with nice toiletries and the restaurant next door offers good quality food. We were very pleased overall.”

• Broken furniture, noisy smoking room.

“This is by far the worst experience that I have ever had. The room smelled horrible (smoking) and they refused to change us. The furnishing was broken and worn. ( including a torn shower Curtin) Every morning at about 6:30 or 7:00 they started moving trash and furniture out of the rooms that they were renovating into huge trash receptacle underneath and just outside of our room.”

• Indoor pool during winter travel.
• Distance from (non-hotel) restaurants.

“This hotel worked out great for conducting business in Newport News. I felt very secure during my stay and the hotel has a very nice indoor pool. In addition, the room was very clean. Access to I-64 was extremely convenient.”

“The indoor heated pool was very cold. No hot tub. The room looked nice but had a musty smell. I would not stay at this hotel again.”

• Perfect location and wonderful room with DVD player, fridge and microwave!
• The housekeeper had an unusual attitude.

“Our stay was great and we were in a perfect location next to everything. This hotel is large and wonderful. Our room came with a DVD player, fridge and microwave on top of everything else.”

• Would have liked to have had the Lifetime channel. Channels were very limited.

“The hotel exceeded my expectations. The entry is open yet warm and inviting. The rooms are very spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff was friendly. I will definitely choose this hotel again when staying in Newport News.”

• The room smelled musty/sweaty. The hallways also smelled musty.

“The hotel is very old. The staff is friendly. This does not make up for the stuffy, smelly room. Overall, it was quite uncomfortable.”

• The location and indoor pool is a plus.
• I was told that the room I was in did not come with king size beds.

“I stayed on the first floor. The room had a muggy atmosphere, kind of damp. I did not know if it had to do with the pool being near by or not. Outside of that, it was a nice stay.”
