• Renovations.

“This hotel is under going renovations and is a complete mess on the outside and the inside. Workmen are allowed to wander around inside the hotel, which makes for an unsafe environment. Thank goodness the hotel staff was very friendly. I would not stay at this hotel again, until the renovations are complete, which should be in March, 2009, according to the Manager.”

• Location was excellent. Close to shopping, walking and work.
• It was difficult to find a close convenience/drug store. Gift shop was limited.

“The hotel was undergoing a face-lift reconstruction, but my room had been recently remodeled and was very comfortable.”

• It was convenient for where I wanted to be and cheap.
• I did not like the construction vehicles and dumpster being emptied outside my room at 5:45 in the morning.

“Nice looking hotel. They should not put guests in rooms near where they are doing renovations. The construction vehicles arrived and the dumpster was removed at 5:45 in the morning which really ruined my stay. The walls are thin and you can hear everything that goes on in the hallways and surrounding rooms. Bring earplugs.”

• In process of remodeling, most items are new.
• Until they finish remodeling, things are kind of in disarray.

“I'll definitely try to stay at this hotel again. I can see with the planned and on-going remodel, it will be a nice place to stay.”

• Hall floors were not clean and generally run down.

“I would avoid this hotel until their renovation in 100% complete.”

• The staff was friendly.
• Our room was not easily accessible from the lobby.

“Very nice staff. We knew of only one route to our room. There were functions taking place that we often were trampling through to get to our room. We found another route the last day of our stay. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.”

• Location, beds, view.
• It was in the process of remodeling so there was some noise and our room had not been remodeled yet so the bathroom was very dated.

“Overall a great stay at a good price, it suited our needs just fine and the free parking in a covered parking garage was a plus.”

• Very scenic (in the woods, next to a lake) and good brunch.
• No map of hotel when we checked in, so we got lost finding the room.

“It's conveniently located in Columbia near route 29 and a large mall. I stayed in it while visiting my daughter and the rooms are very nice. They were renovating so the landscape and ambiance in the building where I stayed was very disrupted; however, that is hopefully a temporary situation and will be finished soon.”

• The restaurant was great, and the view was magnificent.
• The room cleaning service was sub-par. There was an old soap bar in my shower when I arrived and 1/2 roll of toilet paper for 2 days.

“The hotel was nice in the public areas, and the restaurant was one of the highlights. My room was a quarter mile from the lobby, but when I finally found parking closer it was fine. The problems were that the room was not cleaned and stocked well. There was old shampoo and soap in the shower when I arrived - that's disgusting. And there was one not-quite-full roll of toilet paper. The second day, the toilet paper (now mostly gone) was not replaced and there was not another roll in the room. If the front desk was closer or if I weren't so lazy, I'd have complained.”

• Front desk service and support was excellent.
• Old, tired property in need of major improvement.

“There is a large scale renovation going at the hotel and noise and smell is a major distraction. Even after staying in renovated room it's easy to see that it is an old, tired property. Front desk is doing a great job, but housekeeping service is really bad, noisy and cuts corners. Two star property that pretends to be better. $12.95 a day for internet? Shame! Bad idea!”

• Room was spacious.
• The room that we got was in a motel-like section of the hotel.

“Atypically Sheraton in that there were large sections of the hotel that were motel-like (where we were put) as opposed to the general skyscraper style of hotel. There was construction going on at the time. As a result of the sprawling nature of the hotel, we were far away from the lobby area.”

• Comfortable bed. Very nice flat screen TV.
• Almost impossible to find an ice machine. Jack hammers outside my window at 7:45 AM.

• Very friendly staff, clean nice rooms, nice surroundings.
• Fruit platter delivered to room not so fresh fruit.

“Hotel was very nice, though room service seemed anxious to get in the room on the date of our departure and tried to come in three times even before the check-out time!”

• Refrigerator looked out of place. Conflicted with modern look of room.

“Convenient location with very helpful staff. Undergoing renovations at the moment, but room was nice inside. Modern furniture (with the exception of the random white fridge on the floor in the corner).”

“I was pleasantly surprised with the looks of the hotel upon arrival, but then it was supposed to be a renovated room. Upon further looking, the room lacked lighting, was very dim, the bathroom fixtures had rust on them, the toilet was old and scratched, and best of all, and the front door did not lock properly. All you needed to do to get it was give it a slight push, and the door opened without a key. The staff put us on hold for over 20 minutes when we called to get a new room, promised help within 10 minutes. After 30 minutes and 2 more calls, I finally got the manager who did get help up ASAP. After 20 minutes, the maintenance man was getting frustrated as we were also, so another call to the manager finally resulted in a room change at the same time as they fixed the door. She did compensate us with free breakfast buffet tickets for both days, which was ok overall. I don't believe we would stay there again anytime soon due to the construction going on with nails and trailers all over the parking lot.”

“The hotel is going through a $12 million renovation right now so it is rough in some areas. When renovation is complete it should be very good.”

• I was given a room with a lovely view of the lake.
• Upon checking out to catch an early flight, the desk clerk said I was leaving a day early - turns out he didn't know what day it was.

“Pretty good. This was the first visit to the Sheraton. They are comparable.”

“We were sent to our room walking a long distance through various corridors only to find the room was not ready for occupancy and it did not overlook the lake as promised, but rather a parking lot. Also, we asked directions to the fitness center and took a long walk there only to find it was under renovation and unusable.”
