• 5 star decor.
• 1 star customer service at front counter.

“Terrible customer service at front desk. Unqualified trainee staff dealing with customers expecting a 5 star service level. I was at the counter with the check reception for 45 minutes because the trainee did not know how to use the hotel systems.”

“Lobby very crowded virtually all the time. Very expensive internet access and movies in room, draconian policy for mini-fridge they did deliver another small fridge when asked, however. Movie resolution very poor, even on an HD screen!”

• The lobby. The desk clerk gave my daughter a Washington, DC hat that she wore for the rest of the trip.
• Room was too small.

• Bed and pillows were incredibly soft and fluffy.
• There was a roach climbing the walls where I was sitting in the lobby.

“The hotel's lobby was beautiful, with lovely marble and exquisite crystal chandeliers. Unfortunately, it had the sterile feel of a business/convention hotel. It would have been a better business hotel if they did not nickel and dime the business traveler -- charges for internet connectivity and printing.”

• Comfortable bed, quite clean room and great food.
• Hotel check-in clerk.

“Hotel room was five stars. We took the Metro from the airport and found the Metro stop to be within two blocks of the hotel. We tried all of the hotel restaurants and the food was EXCELLENT (including the happy hour options). This is a perfect hotel if you were traveling without children. For Pool goers, it looked very inviting.”

• Loved the indoor swimming pool and jacuzzi except for the surface.
• Inside surface of jacuzzi is too rough and snags my swim wear when I lean against it.

• It was clean, the staff professional and helpful, and the location was perfect.
• Nothing.

“The location is perfect, the staff is professional and helpful and made sure our stay was excellent, which it was. The cleaning staff was also very professional. The elevators are a bit of a hassle but the hotel does its best to help guests and visitors understand what is a bit of a confusing situation. But the elevators shouldn't stop anyone from staying at this hotel.”

• The hotel was conveniently located to all DC attractions and nightlife.
• The price of coffee in Starbucks of the hotel was pricey and you had to pay for internet service in room.

“The hotel has a great lobby with comfy lounge chairs if you want to use the free Wi-Fi in the lobby. The rooms were a little on the small size, especially the bathroom. But the bathroom worked out fine for 4 people for 2 nights. There was plenty of towels available. Called front desk to request a bell-man to pick up bags, he showed up in less than 5 minutes. Also, hotel will hold your bags for you, if you want to check out more sights in DC and don't want to take you bags with you. On the downside, there were protesters in town during the same time as my stay, so the hotel was booked, and the garage was full. However there was a parking garage located right around the corner and was $10 a day cheaper then hotel garage parking. Overall my stay at the J.W. Marriott was great and I would stay there again. The price was great from Priceline.”

• Perfect location, close to the white house.
• No free Wi-Fi in rooms.

“This J.W. is a recommendation for any business traveler and also for travelers seeking a stay close to the White House. An unprepared traveler in casual clothing might find himself under dressed in this hotel, but it doesn't affect the service from the hotel's staff at all, which is meant as a true compliment. The room was very clean and silent, there is nothing to complain about in this hotel.”

• The concierge and staff was helpful and friendly.
• The layout of the bathroom was such that the toilet was always in the way.

“The hotel location was fantastic and close to everything we wanted to visit. There were many restaurants in the area. The hotel lobby is clean and open with pretty flower arrangements.”

• VERY FRIENDLY from curb side to check to bell hop

“This hotel has an awesome view of Pennsylvania Ave. Sightseeing bus right accross the street. We could see the Washington Monument outside our window. White House just down the block. Hotel room was very clean, roomy, just perfect for a visit to our nations capitol.”
