• Bed was clean, friendly service.
• Room need painting, many dark marks on bathroom wall.

“I would not return to this hotel for love or money, rated as a 3 star, I would rate 2. Rooms especially bathroom need painting.”

• Stylish, great location, friendly staff. Great in room amenities. Aveda products!
• They were playing a loud violent movie in the cafe during breakfast.

“Hotel Topaz is tucked away behind Dupont Circle. It's stylishly decorated, and the rooms are clean and well-laid out. Next door is the Tabard Inn which is a great restaurant. And across the street is the Iron Gate which is another good restaurant. It's quiet on that block of N street, though there's lots of action in any direction. The staff are very friendly and helpful.”

• The bed was very comfortable.
• Staff-a smile doesn't cost anything.

“Good location and a comfortable room. Rather dated with its animal prints. Worst element was certainly the staff. No warm welcome, smiles or anything close to friendly social interaction.”

• The room was spacious; staff was great, bath products high quality and the best organic tea.
• Room service, the salmon was fishy and they were out of items for dinner but.

“My overall experience was great, and the staff was extremely pampering. I loved the Aveda products and the organic tea was absolutely awesome. You can tell they care about their hotel with the quality of products they use.”

• The atmosphere was relaxing and the room was huge!
• No complaints.

“I stay in DC frequently and have stayed in many hotels. This is the first time I have stayed at the Topaz and the experience was wonderful. The room was clean and very big, especially for a DC hotel, and most places charge you for internet while the Topaz does not. The staff was very friendly, and the atmosphere was relaxing. I will definitely stay there again!”

• No complimentary breakfast for such a high scale hotel.

“The hotel has very nice ambiance, perfect for couples and family with older children. However for such an upscale hotel the walls/doors are not very sound proof, may be something the hotel can improve on. I would love to have free internet service in the room or just a communal computer to use internet.”

• It was very different from the ordinary. Very comfortable.
• The drinks in the bar were pricey.

“We didn't know quite what to expect when we booked the room, but were very pleasantly surprised. The staff was very helpful and friendly! Our room was well appointed and comfortable as well. (And very unique!) I definitely plan to stay there again.”

• Room was spacious.
• Could have been cleaner.

“Three blocks from Dupont Circle Metro and restaurants made it convenient place to stay. Nice boutique hotel with spacious room. Great Aveda bath products. Did not particularly like the fact that they place a hold on your credit card for any purchases you may make during your stay with them.”

• The room was very nice. Very well appointed and comfortable.
• The towels provided each day in the bathroom had stains on them.

“It is a half block off of Constitution Avenue and a block and half from the Dupont Circle Metro station. The hotel is located on a very quiet street. The Dupont Circle/Constitution Avenue area is very upscale and has many nearby restaurants and upscale shopping locales. The area is safe at night and well lighted. The hotel is located 5 blocks from the White House area. The hotel room was very nice and comfortable. The decor was very interesting and beautiful, and in line with the hotel's theme. The entry way and lobby area could use cleaning/upgrading. Outside of that issue the hotel was a very nice place to stay.”

• Difficult to find nearby street parking; $30 if choose valet parking.

“Hotel is on a quiet, residential street in Dupont circle near many dining & shopping options, adjacent to the Tabard Inn and across the street from the iron Gate Inn.”

• Location in heart of the city.
• Outside noise was bothersome both at night and in the morning.

“The hotel was funky and clean. The outside noise when its bar let out at 2 am was bothersome. Then, construction work could be heard at 7 am. They need better windows!”

• Although the atmosphere at this hotel is different the people were so friendly, the rooms were immaculate and pet friendly.
• Nothing.

• The decorations called our attention and were very nice and different.
• They didn't answer to the incident as we would like to!

“The hotel is "very good", but we forgot my husband's winter dark green jacket (newly purchase for the trip) and we went back to the hotel 2 days later to look for it, and they didn't know anything about it, they said it's missing! Missing? I asked them. We left it in the closet in room, and it disappeared from there. What can I do?”

• Gorgeous room, staff, specific details that really made the stay. In room jazz CD, leopard robe.
• Elevators took a while, that's it.

“Absolutely gorgeous room, lovely staff, eclectic decor, even the tea bags were phenomenal. They also had a yoga channel and enlightenment hour. It's small friendly and caters to the customer excellently, oh yeah and did I mention it was a gorgeous room.”

• The front desk clerk who checked me in was terrific.
• The leopard dotted bathrobes were a little over the top.

“Conveniently located (if you know your way around DC). It tries to be a little funkier than it is, but it is a perfectly functional place for business or pleasure.”

“Good location, great staff, v good for business travel. Breakfast was not so great. Bar was a little small. Didnt provide enough space for a quiet dinner. But, there's Dupont circle right round the corner.”
