• The hotel staff provided five star service.
• Did not offer free Wi-Fi anywhere in the hotel.

“The hotel location cannot be beat. Having said that guests will find themselves paying a premium for tiny rooms. Also, while hotels tend to charge outrageous amounts for mediocre meals. Be prepared during the tourist season for the occasional rampaging children of tourists families.”

• Restroom is very nice.
• In room, something cached me, my skin had a little scratched.

“Hotel is very comfortable and nice, but in room and floor we find some insects cached in our skin, especially my second daughter was uncomfortable in room.”

• Automatic check out/1/2 block from subway/very clean.
• No coffee maker wanted to charge to put things in refrigerator.

“My adult son & I arrived by train that afternoon and just staying one night & was flying back home next day. We only packed what we needed in a backpack. The hotel was beautiful, clean, friendly, had robes in the room which was nice, even like the shampoo, which I generally don't. I used iron & board, great. Just need a coffee maker for hot tea in evening or coffee 1st thing in the morning. Room service coffee 2-cups $7.00 + $3.00 service charge + 15% on top.”

• Hotel location was excellent.
• Room was small.

“Hotel was nice, Lobby area was impressive and the location in downtown was good, but the room was small. There was an in room mini bar, but the prices for anything out of it was high. No coffee maker in room.”

• Classic hotel with historic significance.
• Needed TV upgrade and bedding that fit better.

“We enjoyed staying at the Mayflower. It was a beautiful hotel. Our only issues were with the noise of the heating/cooling system, the outdated TV and there was mildew in the tiles of the bathtub/shower.”

• Perfect location for sightseeing, 1 block from Metro.
• Hotel is geared to the business traveler rather than families.

• Hotel was in a great location close to all the sites.
• Walls are very thin could hear doors banging.

“Mayflower hotel is a magnificent hotel the doorman was awesome and the place was spotless. Did have a few issues with housekeeping coming very early 9:00am two days in a row. Also I left the TV on in the room and hung the do not disturb sign on the door as we left for the night. When we returned at 4am the TV was off and our door was left open. I am not sure what exactly happened. But luckily nothing was missing.”

• Grand, historic, beautiful, wonderfully located.
• The claustrophobia-inducing standard rooms.

“The "executive" level rooms are comfortable and fine, and that's what we ended up in for our stay only because we were moved from our original "standard" room, which had a problem with hot water availability.”

• The customer service was exceptional.
• The bathroom needed maintenance.

“With views of other rooms across the alley and a bathroom that had seen better days, I was not in 4-star awe. Fortunately, the staff made up for the lack of property maintenance. Polite, attentive and helpful staff make all the difference when the room is a little rough around the edges.”

• Parking costs $35.00 per day. But is Washington DC.

• The entire staff was attentive, especially the concierge.

“Beautiful historic hotel, makes you feel like you stepped back in time. The entire staff was attentive, and the concierges were outstanding in helping plan tours in the DC area. The beds were fantastic, very comfortable, and the room was very quiet (couldn't hear activity in the hallway or adjacent rooms). I am a pilot for Southwest Airlines, and stay at different hotels every week. The Mayflower is by far the best hotel I have stayed at in the United States.”

• Bed was amazingly comfortable and room service and concierge were great.
• Bell hop did not offer to help us with our heavy bags coming or going.

“We loved this hotel! It was beautiful, comfortable and central to all that we wanted in DC. We got to the hotel early and were upgraded at no charge to a suite! Our only issue was with the bell hop who did not offer to help us with our heavy and clumsy bags as we tripped to the door. The concierge and all other staff were great.”

• Great location for touring DC.
• Rumbling building noises. Pillows were uncomfortable.

“Excellent location less than a block from metro station and about 3 blocks from the white house. Heard rumbling building noises while trying to sleep. The pillows were odd. One very small, one very large and fat. The desk, bell hop and concierge service was very good. Only had dessert at one of the restaurants. Looked beautiful, but tasted below average. Booked two "identical" rooms. One was large, one was small.”

• No safe in the room.

“Service was outstanding from check in to check out. Restaurants had good food and good service. I highly recommend the hotel. Close to metro and easy to walk around town.”
