  • Wonderful desk staff, elegant, comfortable, spacious rooms.
  • The staff was a tiny bit stretched during the evening rush. But not bad.

“The Four Seasons minus the steroids. Like a boutique 5 star. Accomodating, gracious staff; spacious comfy rooms. Fab location, gorgeous street appeal. Did not see the fitness room or the restaurant, but room service was prompt and good.”

  • Hotel was very clean and in a great location.
  • Nothing.

“Great hotel. Very Clean! Friendly and helpful staff and in a great location. Will go back for sure.”

  • Free water and cookies.
  • Parking was costly and unfriendly staff.

“A 3 star hotel labeled as a 4 star. Parking is $38 a night and Internet is $10. Be prepared for an extra $48 a night.”

  • Plush robes, apples in lobby, newspaper in AM, service with a smile.
  • They put us in a room facing a brick wall and a loud AC unit, but they moved us to a nice room later.

“Understated, refined and unimposing. The concierge was helpful, professional. The room we got moved to (after first getting a very small room facing a brick wall), was huge and delicious. Staying here helped shape our trip to D.C. into a very fun vacation.”

  • The location is great, the hotel was very nice.

“The location could not be better. The hotel is great and even though it is not small seems very intimate. A great deal and I'd definitely return but there were a few quirks. The room was very nice but faced a brick wall and the bathroom was weird, the toilet was very close to the door and you had to get off the toilet to reach the toilet paper roll, there was no tub and the shower stall was very narrow, not a lot of room to move around (and I'm small), the air conditioner was also very noisy.”

  • Location!
  • Hate paying extra for internet. Unimpressive room service.

“Small, intimate, elegant hotel in ultra prime location.”

  • The staff was very friendly. The rooms were very nice.
  • When booked for 8 people, I got two rooms each with a king bed.

“This hotel was very nice and clean. The staff was friendly. Rooms were spacious. However as I previously stated when I booked two rooms for 8 people I felt I should get a room with two double beds.”

  • All the staff was super friendly.
  • Food was too theatrical.

“Love the people, the room, need a bigger business center. But overall, the service was super!”

  • Location is excellent and staff is very professional.
  • Both of our hotel rooms were very hot.

“The Fairfax Hotel at Embassy Row is in an excellent location two blocks from the DuPont Circle Metro station, and also close to many shops and restaurants. The hotel is beautiful (though small), very clean, with a very professional and accommodating staff. Rooms are not huge but are adequate, with great linens. Our rooms were both very hot, however. Because it was late, we opted not to contact the management about this, so I cannot say how they would have tried to rectify the situation.”

  • The location was wonderful, right in the middle of Dupont Circle.
  • The restaurant required a jacket, if you were in the lounge only limited bar food was served.

“The hotel was wonderful, clean, friendly staff. The first room has the exhaust fan from the restaurant outside the window that created a vibration throughout the room. The second room directly across the hall that we were offered was over the ramp to the garage below. We were awoken to honking first thing in the morning and the garbage truck.”

  • Friendly staff; clean and attractive facility.
  • Room was a bit small.

“I was there for only one night. I did not use any of the restaurants or meeting rooms. It served my purpose in terms of convenience and location.”

  • Gorgeous and great location.
  • Staff a little too helpful.

“Awesome location, right near the metro stop and Dupont Circle. Really nice hotel with some character and ambiance. Staff very nice and helpful but a little too much so. I do not like it when staff grab my bags without asking. I don't like anyone to touch my stuff without asking. Here they opened the car, started taking stuff out, carrying it into the hotel, and never even asked if I was ok with them handling my gear. Not cool. Otherwise awesome.”

  • The common areas (halls, lobby) were gorgeous and tastefully done.
  • Hotel did not have a refrigerator in the room.

“Very good quality. The room was rather small but it was comfortable.”

  • Great bed, friendly staff and nice bathroom.
  • Old lobby.

“For the price and the location this was a great choice. I asked for a light room and they gave me one on the front which was perfect! Lots of light, good bed, nice flat screen TV and a nice marble bath!”

  • The room was absolutely beautiful!! I wish my wife was there with me!
  • The internet was a problem the whole time and the staff was unable and inconsistent in solving the problem.

“The hotel can best be described as elegant. The room was beautiful and extremely comfortable. The furnishings, including an ipod dock were all designed to be consistent with the period and style of the hotel. The internet left much to be desired and the staff was not much help in addressing the problem.”

  • They were responsive when I needed to switch rooms for noise.
  • Did not have free WiFi.

“Attractive, well located, clean, friendly, professional, attentive. Main negative is no free WiFi.”

  • Staff was great. Helpful, courteous. Room was lovely.
  • Hotel had just changed from a Westin to Fairfax. In-Room dining menu listed in guest services was not available as described. The only problem.

“Great location, just steps away from Dupont Circle and Metro, but it feels hidden away a bit in the neighborhood, so away from the intense hustle and bustle. A pretty, old hotel that has been nicely updated with very comfortable and lovely rooms and nice modern facilities. Staff was very attentive and helpful. Especially impressive since the hotel had just changed from a Westin to the Fairfax (Star wood I believe.).”

  • Attentiveness of the staff.
  • The hotel was under renovation; however we were not feeling inconvenient, and offered a free breakfast.

“Beautiful hotel, accommodating staff personnel and ideal location.

  • Location.
  • Most lobby employees were from other countries and seemed anxious and somewhat difficult to understand at times.

“It was nice. I would consider staying there again.”

  • Shower head was broken.

“Very nice. I would return.”
