“I really enjoyed the plasma TV set in the room, and enjoyed the fact that if I needed a kitchen to prepare anything that one was included in my room. Bathroom was a little small but overall I would stay here again.”

“We had a family group of 20 people from all over the country we were unable to use any of the rooms to just "visit" due to some remodeling issues we were greatly disappointed the staff was not willing to try and help either.”

“Description says that the renovation is complete, which it is not. Lounge was closed breakfast was served in a cleared out room.”

“Check in was great however there was an issue with the shuttle and the discrepancy with time pick ups. We were told several times the shuttle would be right there and then ended up waiting an hour at time, which was frustrating. Otherwise, the hotel was clean and comfortable.”

“I liked the staff at the Hawthorne suites. They were very helpful and friendly. I think it will be really pretty when the lobby is completely renovated. Our room was very nicely renovated and had everything we needed to feel comfortable.”

“I originally booked a three day stay. But two days before I arrived, I added a night through your system, because my employer needed me to come to o.k. earlier. This got all screwed up at the hotel, and they said they only had a reservation for the one night I had added. It was eventually straightened out but It added stress at a time I didnt need It. Also It was unseasonably cold and they would not turn on the heat; I went and bought a portable heater for my room. I think someone owes me $35 for the heater.”

“It was an excellent choice for a traveler on a budget, but a traveler who expects comfort and who knows or thinks she/he knows quality.”

“Of the 9 hotels we used during vacation, this one rates 8th. It looks like somebody's revival project. Most of it is torn apart with construction. Heavy paint smells throughout. Very few guests. In an 'iffy' location with threatening looking people hanging around premises. Entire staff born in some other country (not that that is a negative but you should know). Breakfast buffet the worst we've ever seen. Stale bread and do-nuts, terrible juices, not even cold. Bacon (if thats what it was) like no other we've ever seen, had to toss it. Room had an old kitchen where faucet could barely be turned on. Cabinets scraped on refer top making them difficult to open. On the upside, maids were friendly and the shower and night-time ventilation (air conditioning) were great. All in all, would not go back nor recommend.”

“I travel professionally, for the past 20 years. In a nutshell, here are the problems: 1.) I was given a key to someone else' room when I checked in. He was very shocked when I opened the door to what I thought was my room and found him. The guy at the front desk not only did not apologize for the mistake, he was obnoxious. Like somehow it was my fault. He sighed a lot and made a big deal about having to give me another room. Then, he gave me a smaller room. 2.) The smaller room had only 1 of 2 telephones working and had one non-working lamp. The stove did not work.”

“This hotel is currently undergoing renovation and when it is completed it will be great. Right now, put up with construction (only during 9-5) and reroutes. When it is completed, it will be great. Only real drawback is that the host suite for happy hour (free beer, wine, wings our night for two hours) and breakfast is the living of a suite, no place to sit. You must get it and take it back to the room. You do get a feel for what it will be like in the half completed lobby. I think our room was decorated, but still needed new furniture. Our room was on 5 and it was not noisy from the outside, but sound from hall carried too well. They also take dogs, which is appreciated those we didn't have ours. Mall is about 2 blocks away along sidewalks, they shuttle you to the metro, and are extremely helpful in any way they can be.”

“We did not use the fold out bed because it had some sort of critter (mouse?) droppings in it. Also there was mold in some of the rooms. Not recommended for families.”

“We were very pleased with our stay at this hotel. It was convenient to the metro to commute into d.c. The pool area was very nice and they had a lifeguard on duty. The room was very roomy with a large living/dining area. King bedroom, large bath and full kitchen. The breakfast was very good. There was a social hour from 5:30 to 7:00 that featured a different food each night. One night we had hamburgers/hot dogs that they grilled outside by pool. One night there was burritos. The staff was all very helpful and friendly.”

“I got a great price, well below government per diem, and did not expect much. I was pleased to find everything new or newly renovated, a great and free breakfast, and excellent views from my 7th floor window. Staff was professional and pleasant. I would stay there again.”

“The hotel was perfect for my needs that it was close to work. I think it would be great for families visiting on vacation especially for the price. You get exactly what you pay for. It is clean and convenient to the metro. It is also nice that you do not need to pay for parking. Most places I have stayed charged $25 or more.”

“Large, multi-room suite style rooms, with fairly full kitchens. Definitely geared towards business travel. Close to the highway, so easy access, but also highway noise. You cannot walk to destinations, so transportation is essential.”

“Think older Comfort Inn-level material quality that's what you'll get at Hawthorne Suites Alexandria. I liked the miniature kitchen, and the hotel's maid staff seemed to take pride in their work. However, the hotel is exactly what you'd expect from a place with $99 rack room rates on their website in the DC metro area - very average.”
