• Large room, beautiful area, lots of potential.
• Room was dated and not properly cleaned.

“Hotel was nice overall, but is certainly dated. It has a huge amount of potential if the owners would put some money into it. The room was quite large and the bathroom was actually pretty nice and not showing its age as much as the rest of the room. There was a bit of a musty smell in the room potentially due to the air conditioner. Overall, I would certainly stay there again.”

• Hallway and room smelled like smoke.

• The hotel was close to the conference center.
• Room mildewed & damp, did not receive clean towels second day.

“This is the second time I've stayed at Toftrees. The front desk staff is friendly and when I found mildew in my room, was promptly given another room. However, the quality of my 1st floor room was much less than my previous stay on the second floor. Fresh towels were not delivered the second day. Wireless was only available in the lobby which was inconvenient.”

• Very pretty setting outside State College, surrounded by trees and a golf course.
• No internet in the room! My husband had to take his laptop to the lobby where he joined several others.

“If you like a Country Club setting, Toftrees Resort is for you. It's also a nice, quiet, comfortable place to spend the night. Toftrees is outside State College, but easy to get to. Desk staff is friendly. But there is no Internet service in the room--the presence of several guests tapping away on laptops in the lobby when we signed in should have tipped us off. Later my husband joined them.”

• It was hard to find the room from the outside. No markings.

• Nice location on a beautiful setting.
• Laundry room was right under my hotel room and was extremely noisy!

“They started laundry at around 4 am and between the machines and the 2 ladies yelling at each other to have a conversation over the noise of the machines, there was not much sleep to be had.”

• The meal at the restaurant was a 9.
• The noise level from other people in the restaurant was inappropriate for dinner and they didn't tell us they had a sweet 16 party going on.

“I hated the bed, it was cheap and hard, as a rock, and the cleanliness of the bathroom. I brought it to the attention of the hotel personnel but they did nothing about the bathroom's cleanliness. The bed was extremely cheap and hard. Dust in the room. The remote for the cc didn't work for the TV. Altogether a really awful experience for us except for the restaurant but even that had loud people, I mean extremely loud, and a sweet 16 party going on in the other room. This was a trip to bond with my husband and pick up a pug for me, after my son died in Iraq in December and it was just a shambles.”

• Location was absolutely gorgeous.
• No elevator.

“Set out of the city. Easy access back to Penn State. Close to the interstate and yet it was a bucolic setting, very quiet and peaceful. Good meal. Not exciting, but just fine. Our room was lovely, well apportioned. Nothing missing. Beds were very comfortable.”

• There is no internet in the room.

“The hotel hallways are cold, there is no internet in the rooms. If you need to use the internet, there is one computer right next to the front doors making sure every time someone comes in you feel the out side temperatures.”

• The outside grounds were well kept.
• Just about everything. It's old and outdated. Stains on carpet and on ceiling. Items broken. Lobby smelled terrible and wasn't comfortable.

“I would not recommend this hotel. The hotel needs major renovation. There is wallpaper peeling, stains, old carpet/drapes, etc. Also, I saw a handicap person come to check in, and when the individual told the front desk person, he requested a handicap accessible room; it seemed that the hotel isn't totally handicap accessible. With the current laws related to ADA, I would think this would be a requirement (although the employee told the visitor they were grandfathered in since the hotel was built in the 60's) to accommodate. This was very disturbing to me.”

• Very pleased with the hotel was way more then I expected.
• The bed was a little too hard.

“Feels secluded but yet it's close to everything. Very clean, very roomy rooms very nice grounds. Staff very nice; wanted room service but the kitchen was closed, so they gave us a book of menus of places that delivered, we printed something off of the computer and it didn't come out right and the staff used their computer to reprint it for us. Again, very pleased, defiantly will return.”
