“When pulling up to the hotel it seemed ok, old but ok. The blue and white colors gave me a calm feeling.”

“Great place to stay. Would definitely go back again. Excellent diner within walking distance. Beautiful mountains. Beautiful ride to the motel from Highway 81. Near picturesque, quaint Luray.”

“Sept. 2007: $79 for a $30 room! This dingy, dilapidated non-smoking room smelled so strongly of stale cigarettes and mold that my husband & I aired it out for an hour upon our 10:00 pm arrival and again at 3:00 am for another hour when the smell awoke us. Dirty, torn bedspread. Unclean bathroom floor required shoes. I wish we'd had flip flops for the shower. Scratchiest towels & linens we'd ever experienced and I've spent 12 years living in developing countries and we have traveled extensively. Inedible "breakfast" consisted solely of old vending machine looking sugar buns and suspect oj. "View" was of a septic tank and narrow strip of grass. The hotel's business card calls it "Best Value Cardinal Inn" while people calls it the "Best Value Inn - Luray Caverns." Whatever the hotel's name is, it certainly is a 1 star, bottom of the barrel facility. What a bummer that we prepaid and it was so late when we arrived. I have successfully booked a dozen hotel stays over the web and blame this hotel owner for misrepresenting value and locking us into an unfair price. (BTW, I have never felt this negatively about a hotel experience and this is only time I have ever complained publicly about anything, much less that a hotel price was outrageously unfair.) While the owner apologized for the odor, she justified the price as what a customer gets by booking via the Internet!”
