“In view of the prices for hotels in South Beach this hotel was OK. Experience would have been better if towels were not washed out rags and bathroom had been updated.”

“If you plan on being very intoxicated, this place is fine to sleep. If you at all conscious, go ahead and skip the bel-aire.”

“This hotel was a mess it took 6 rooms before I take a room. The first room had a broken AC. 2nd had someone in the bed. 3rd had green mold on the walls. 4th had stained sheets. 5th had bad AC. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

“Clean lobby, clean but worn carpet in the room. Noisy window air conditioner. No noise from the adjoining room. Incompetent staff. Great location. The Bel Aire stands beautifully beside her sisters on Washington. But, most of the foot traffic is over on ocean where her cousins live. How do you compete with that? How do you keep spending precious dollars to maintain appearances when everyone wants to stay on Ocean? The owners of this and the Bel Aire's sister properties have to be frugal to stay open. But, that is no excuse for a poorly trained front desk staff and a completely ignorant back office staff. (One girl had to be told not once, not twice, but four times to make a copy of a receipt.) And, don't ask for a full complement of towels. If the hotel is close to full, there won't be enough to go round. Even to the point of borrowing from the other hotels. Overall, I would not hesitate to stay at the Bel Aire again.”

“I would stay there again just to lay my head only because it's right across the street from all the nice clubs, diner and two blocks from the beach and ocean drive where everything is at. However, the hotel itself is very sad looking from the inside. Not the main building where the lobby is at, but the other two buildings where they have room. It's like night and day. If only they showed interest in the other buildings like they did the lobby, it would be an excellent place.”

“This hotel was great for our group. We partied all night and slept during the day. It is right next to the police station so that was loud at times. But its also next to all of the clubs and has a pool. But it was great for sleeping and the staff was wonderful.”

“This hotel is perfect if you are on a super-tight budget and care more about the location to local clubs than comfort. They forgot to give us full size towels, and for two days we had to use wash clothes to dry off. The air conditioner barely blew cold air and we sweat at night. There was no elevator so we suffered to carry our luggage up three flights of stairs. The shower had gross grey caked-on-stains. Lastly, the lights in main lobby of the building we stayed in leaked some weird clear fluid constantly for all 5 days we were there.”

“This has to be the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The room was dirty, the elevator was rickety, the television was poor, and the hotel charged a mandatory fee for a safe that I did not want or use. If you are a light sleeper, do not stay at this hotel. The police station is directly across the street and the Canine unit dogs barked all night. It was extremely overpriced not only for the quality of the hotel, but for the season.”

“The hotel was awful. Save your money and stay somewhere that has friendly staff. The smell of the room will make you sick, and the bugs in the room are terrible. Watch out for the bed bugs!”

“The hotel was full of noisy drunks and felt unsafe. No convenient parking. It was two blocks away from the beach. The room was oppressively hot and all the window AC did was keep us up. Made a lot of racket but never could cool the room.”

“It as 2.5 star. I would describe it as 0.025 star. We found 2 dead mosquitoes between the sheets. Paint in the room was chipping everywhere. The room was on the ground level, and the windows had no locks on it. The towels had permanent stains on them. There was no dresser in the room. We were told we'd get one king size or 2 full size beds. We got one twin size bed. There was a safe in the closet that didn't work. When I called for maintenance to fix it, they said they were coming, and I waited one hour. Then I called again and they said coming, on the way. Still nothing for another 2 hours. After waiting 5 hours, I told them I am leaving, send later. They never sent anyone. Then they actually charged me for use of the same at checkout, for 2 days. I had to fight with them. It's beyond bad. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not even my enemies.”

“The hotel is really close to beach. If you will go to beach a lot, it is not bad choice. Some staffs in this hotel are not friendly. We have a bad experience at this hotel. In the end, we do not like to talk with them a little bit. It seems that they are still in sleep.”

“There was no air conditioning and we slept in a puddle of our own sweat during the entire five night stay. I've stayed at multiple 2-star hotels before and this was not a two star, it wasn't even a 1-star. I would have rather stayed at Motel 6. There were fights going outside all night (between locals, it had nothing to do with spring break traffic), and the "hotel's" pool is actually open to the public and right off the road, not even gated - there are tons of random people in there with broken bottles, trash etc lying around. The vending machines and ice machines were all empty/not functioning, and don't even think about going to a local convenience store for water - you will easily pay $4 for a small bottle. For the price we paid for the hotel, I would have rather slept in the car. At least it would have been clean, cool, and safe.”

“After reading other reviews, we expected a negative experience. Instead, the staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the hotel was only a short walk to the beach and restaurants. Parking was available about a block away in the municipal parking garage (behind the police station).”
