• Pillows were those huge horrible overstuffed kind.

“Hotel was nice, but not worth nearly the suggested price. Older place in need of upgrading. The pictures of the pool area are very deceiving. Rooms clean and staff friendly. Beds were uncomfortable.”

• ocean front access and the tiki hut bar made the trip
• had greater expectations for the room old coffee was left in thecoffee maker, stains on the pillows, room cramped

“I enjoyed the Tiki Hut and the location of the hotel, but the room seemed alot smaller in person than what was expected for the price. Staff was friendly and welcoming.”

• The bathroom was out of date and in poor repair.

• Great location on the beach. Our toddler loved playing on the beach.
• We were given a smoking room and could not change to non-smoking.

“We were given a smoking room, and could not change to a non-smoking room. Although the smoke odor was minimal and not too bad. We stayed for two nights. The room was a little larger than a standard room and our room contained a king-size bed and coach.”

• Proximity to where we wanted to be.
• The bathroom needed to be updated.

“The hotel was clean and the beds were very comfortable. The shower area could have been a little cleaner, the walls were stained with lime deposits, and the soap dish fell off the wall the last morning we were there. We were very pleased with the hotel over all.”

• Hotel is near the beach and local shopping/restaurants.
• The hotel needs serious renovation.

“The hotel room was damp, clothes and bedding grew mildew within the first two days. The bathroom was losing tile and the plumbing dilapidated. The room had ants, when we went to the front desk to get a different room; their response was condescending at best - as if our standards were too high. After we changed rooms, we noticed the room had been cleaned and given to another guest the next day, there is no way that room had dried out it had serious plumbing issues. The second room was not damp, but still felt more like a motel 6. Would not stay there again.”

• Ocean front, Tiki bar, live music and great pool. Very good staff.
• Hard to find a parking space.

“The hotel was clean and friendly. The room was very clean and we never had a shortage of towels. Had a great Tiki bar and pool area. Beautiful ocean view from the Tiki bar. Great location. Over all I would stay there again and recommend it to my friends and family.”

• Location is great, pool area was nice.
• Bathrooms need update, $10 per person for breakfast.

“We enjoyed our stay. We only stayed for one night. It could be a little cleaner and updated. The location is awesome. Parking is limited but they have valet. They could do a better job of regulating who uses parking lot and pool, limit to hotel guests only. Only ate breakfast at hotel and it was good but not worth $10 for what we ate.”

• Access to beach, Angel and Zack at front desk were very nice.
• Attitude and unkindness of Craig from Accounting department.

“Location was great on the beach, however, be sure you ask for room with an oceanfront view, as there is no guarantee. Housekeeping was great, but accounting staff was very rude. My room key decided not to work one day, so when I went to the front desk to exchange it, the guy in front of me was having the same exact problem. The guy in front of me was not given any problem. When it was my turn, sighs of frustration ran over the guys face. I should have been frustrated, but he gave me a rude sigh and threw my hotel key back on the counter!”

• I really enjoyed the location and amenities it offered.
• I was thoroughly disappointed with the security staff. Highly unprofessional.

• Rooms were good sized and included a refrigerator and microwave.
• Elevator was very humid/stuffy, smelled bad, and was very slow. Some corridors also had an odor.

“Good location/quality for the price/location. Pool was very nice. Room size was good. Hotel staff was not very knowledgeable about the area which was disappointing.”

• Cheap and very close to beach access.
• Old and smelly.

“Pros: 1.) Cheap 2.) Quiet 3.) Good pool access. Cons: 1.) Old and smelly 2.) Had a person in the lobby at all times trying to sell you a discount program. 3.) Had to walk further to your car to park than to the beach and at night zero lights outside. 4.) Very dirty carpets! Wear your socks or shoes at all times! 5.) Shower was interesting. Overall if you are looking for a cheap place to sleep and not concerned about any frills, this is the place for you. I would stay here again because I only wanted to go to the beach! We were there for three days and only in our rooms long enough to sleep and change clothes.”

• Dirty, poor parking, unfriendly staff, stinky.

“I should have opted for an Inn instead. This place was **icky**. Bedroom had another door connecting to maybe the next door room. Lock was not working very well so they put a chair there. Scared me a lot. Balcony was 1foot broad. Could barely stand. On entering the room stunk like 'Phenol' cleaners. The cleaning staff made only the beds and took the dirty towels. Left everything else untouched and dirty and gave only one towel for the second day. Parking was too far away and had to walk back at night in the dark.”

• Parking was very limited on the weekend/poor lighting in the room.

“The Metropolitan hotel of Hilton head is a good value for travelers on a budget. I was able to take my daughters on a 3 night beach vacation and not spend a lot of money. It is a short walk to the beach and there are lots of shops about a mile and a half away from the hotel. The complimentary breakfast, although with a limited selection, aloud me to go down and take breakfast back to the room to have waiting for the girls when they woke up. There was a refrigerator and microwave in our room which was a plus. The room was clean and the beds were very comfortable. There is a small business center with a computer so that guests can check their email with a 20 min time limit. I was pleased with my stay and would recommend this hotel to anyone who is wishing to take a beach vacation.”

• Incredible price for the proximity to the beach.
• Hotel needs some updates, parking was limited.

“This is a great hotel for 20 - something's looking to be close to the beach without spending a fortune. Fortunately, it was the spring break crowd I sort of expected, but there was definitely a younger demographic there. For the most part, the hotel was clean, but in need of some updates and minor repair work. But there was nothing that wouldn't keep me from staying there again.”
