• Nicest we've stayed in, staff was wonderful.

“The staff was very accommodating to us. Everyone was friendly and more than willing to help you out. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• It was close to all attractions.
• Service, small bathroom, nothing in vending machines. third shift staff.

“There was only one staff member I dealt with that was nice and very helpful. The vending machines did not work on any floor so I had to walk back to the front desk for bottled water (I just left for change and she did not mention machines not working).”

• Very clean, convenient location, excellent breakfast bar.
• Mattresses were extremely uncomfortable, lumpy, gave us back aches.

“The hotel was very clean, nice room. They did not give us cups for drinking water or provide cups for coffee in the room even though there was a small coffee maker. Then they did put the cups for coffee and we used them and they never gave us any more coffee. The mattresses were terrible. Gave us back aches. Very lumpy. They need replaced. Still we did have a good time during our stay there. And their breakfast bar was great. Nice selection.”

• The comfortable king size bed!

“The hotel and it's staff are wonderful! The room was large and very clean. Water pressure was wonderful after a long day of walking! Breakfast was over-the-top! Stay was very pleasurable!”

• Great bedding; great toiletries; very friendly staff; very clean facilities.
• No sci-fi or BBC America on TV, even though sci-fi was listed in the welcome guide!

“Way better than expected for a 2 star hotel! One of the best deals Ive gotten in this area in a long time, and a much better hotel than we've stayed at in the past! Only the lack of the sci-fi Channel was disappointing, especially as I was told they got it and it was listed in the TV channels guide as channel 64, but our TV rolled back over to channel 2 after channel 62!”

• Did not like the fact I received a smoking room.

“I received a smoking room and the staff under no circumstances would change it, in fact they said they could not change it. I am diabetic and sleep with a CPAP machine, which it cannot be used in a confined place with smoke. I stayed there that night since I had already paid the costs and the filter on the machine was black due to the air quality in the room. Every time I moved on the bed, I smelled stale smoke and got very sick. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.”

• The breakfast was good. Good views.
• Pool was closed with 80 degree temps. Although it was December.

“This hotel was clean and comfortable. The room was spacious with a good view of the city. Employees were courteous and the breakfast was filling.”

• Exceeded expectations and the staff were spectacular.
• Parking was cramped.

“This hotel is wonderful for business or leisure travel. The complimentary breakfast is varied and delicious, and the staff is wonderful and accommodating. It is centrally located in university park and close to both I 77 and I 85 as well as many restaurants and great shopping. I would recommend it to anyone.”

• Excellent staff and customer service. Luxurious linens and bedding.
• Only our room which was across from the housekeeping. Second night there we were kept awake from the slamming of this door.

“As long as you don't stay in the room across from the housekeeping room, you will have a fantastic experience. Everything from the staff to the accommodations is first class.”

• The staff was amazing - they were all pleasant and helpful.
• The AC seemed to take a while to cool the room off - of course it was 98 outside.

“We had a wonderful time here - the staff really made the hotel. From the breakfast hostess to the desk staff to the janitorial staff - they all greeted us and wished us well. Very nice.”

“We had a wonderful stay this past weekend at this hotel. The pool was well kept and all the common areas were clean and friendly feeling. The breakfast was always well stocked and clean - we needed some 2% milk that was out at one point and when I asked for it not only did the hostess go to get it straight away she brought it to our table to make sure we got some. Everyone we encountered was absolutely wonderful, from the front desk staff to the janitorial staff, it was a great stay.”

• The breakfast area was very nice and clean.
• The staff wasn't rude but wasn't friendly either.

“The rooms are totally out of date; the carpet is old; they mix smoking rooms on the same floor as non-smoking rooms (which I happen to get that floor); rooms had 70s looking furniture, smelly carpet and just out of date. Not like most Hampton inns I have stayed before.”

• Great value for the price. Very comfortable beds!
• Would like for the pool to have been open. still a little early in the year but unseasonably warm. Would have been nice.

“I would recommend the Hampton. The star system is a great way to ensure you are getting what you pay for. at the cost I paid for the room I feel I got more than my money's worth!”

• Maid service on weekend was a bit lax.

“Overall, I enjoyed the stay and was pleased with the service at Hampton University Place. Our sons were pleased with the hotel except that the pool was "closed". Safety issues may stop some, but they seem to be issues which are plaguing hotels in the area.”

• Free breakfast was unexpected at the price I paid and was wonderful!
• Not really within walking distance of any good restaurants.

“Check-in was simple and quick. As I said before I did not expect to receive breakfast at the price that I had paid. It was wonderful. The room was large and nicely done. New pillows and comforter. Excellent water pressure in the shower!!”
