“Our first night at the hotel, we tried to take a hot shower before going to bed but the hot water in our room did not work. We called the front desk and asked if we could shower in a different room since there was no maintenance staff available. The night auditor gave us a key, when we got to the room, the light was on in the bathroom, towels were on the floor and the bed looked just slept in. We thought we had walked into an occupied room! When we went back to the desk to tell him that the room he sent us to was dirty, he yelled at us and said it was our fault for not asking for a clean room. I was appalled. He even used foul language toward us. As far as hotel cleanliness, the glasses in our room were half filled with water, had lipstick marks on them even though the paper cap had been replaced and the bathroom had toothpaste spray everywhere. I would not suggest this hotel.”

“The staff was very accommodating. Because of the ambiance, I love staying at historic inns and this inn did not disappoint. It is located in the historic district, right in the middle of River Street. So we were close - within walking distance - to all that is Savannah. The complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres reception was an added bonus. We had a most delicious breakfast at Huey's and cocktails at Bernie's. Our service was very friendly and prompt. We will definitely return.”

“Very good location, nice rooms, restored old waterfront building, good and knowledgeable staff. Living in history, in a historical city. More expensive than some, but very enjoyable.”

“Wow, my wife and I were looking for an overnight getaway. Everything was great. Staff, room and location were perfect. I would and will stay again, only that we will stay more than one night.”

“The River Street in was a very nice hotel with beautiful charm and is located right on River Street where all of the action is. The restaurant located downstairs was very good. The rooms were very clean and romantic and the staff was very nice.”

“The hotel was quite authentic for the region, and the appointments were very nice. Rooms too small to be entirely comfortable. However, bathroom was new, though tub slippery (my mother slipped while in the tub).”

“The staff was very helpful when we checked in. We got an upgrade on our room without asking. They went out of their way to make sure we knew where places were around downtown Savannah. Only downside, a little noisy on the floor we stayed on. Other than that, I would stay again and recommend to others.”

“The River Street Inn is a great stay in a great local. Everything is excellent, the "springy" floors included as they show the authenticity of an Historic hotel modernized to 21st century expectations with out losing 18th-19th century charm.”

“Price was too high for the lack of amenities (no fridge in room, coffee in lobby ran out before 9:30 am). Room was beautiful, location was wonderful.”

“The hotel was undergoing renovations this was not a problem because the workers doing the work were friendly and helpful. However the staff of the hotel was not. We booked a room with a queen sized bed and a balcony but the room we received was a double and no balcony. I was very disappointed and will not ever stay here again.”

“Could be described as either quaint and rustic or old and showing its age, but the staff is very friendly and willing to do whatever is necessary to make your stay enjoyable. The folds down at the lounge are great fun and free wine and cheese is way better than a continental breakfast.”

“We enjoyed our stay, parking was inconvenient - a block away in a parking garage, no valet parking like described, but overall, was a very nice stay, lovely room. We would stay here again.”

“The building is beautiful with attractive decor, wood floors, and so forth. The rooms were clean and linens were nice. The location was great and convenient, but parking was a little bit of a hassle, although I don't think this is too unusual for such a location. The turndown service with handmade chocolates was nice. They also had bottled water and ice. The main downside to staying here was that it didn't have a lot of conveniences I normally expect in a hotel like this. There was no gift shop, no room service, no iron in the room, no mini bar (description said mini bar but they were in the process of taking them out and they were empty). It was kind of like staying at a nice house, really. My main advice would be to take your own iron and bring your own cokes, etc. I would certainly stay there again but I would make sure to bring an iron, drinks, etc.” 1 of 1 people found this review helpful.

“I was pleased with the hotel itself, but was sorely disappointed with the professionalism and customer service of the staff, which to me was way below par for a 'nice hotel'. Good customer service is a lot more that 'sir' and 'mama'. It means actually listening to your customer, engaging, and being proactive about specific problems.” 2 of 2 people found this review helpful.Amenities at River Street Inn, Savannah
