• It was walking distance to most of the attractions and downtown.
• I expected a breakfast buffet instead of o.j., bagels, and cereal, etc.

“Overall we were pleased with the hotel because of its great location (saved us gas). But I do recommend a room with a kitchenette because the food was awful (not home cooked veggies). And I do not recommend Santa Maria Restaurant at all.”

• Close to downtown.
• Very old, building look poor and very old, needs upgrade!

“This is an old hotel that appears to be using the same bed covers and curtains for the last 40 years. But on the upside it is affordable and close to the attractions and the trolley do stop on the property and it was fun waving to the tourists on them! Was surprised to see they had wireless internet access. But was surprised to see a liquor store attached to the front so I wouldn't recommend it to a Christian family or anything.”

• Ideal location to surrounding attractions.
• Curtains would not stay closed completely/outside noise.

“Overall experience was very pleasant. Location was perfect. Easy to find and near all historic st. Augustine attractions. Outside hotel appearance was in keeping with the surroundings; old Spanish appearance. Rooms were clean and air conditioning worked great.”

• It was in a great location, central to everything we needed and did.
• Too outdated for my personal taste, I would have preferred a more modern hotel room.

“Outside of the outdated look, it was fine. I don't feel that we got our moneys worth, because it was so outdated, but that is a personal taste. The room was smaller than desired, but it was a place to sleep at night. Perfect location, trolley to tour the city came right through the hotel to pick us up. Short drive to outlets and to the beach.”

• Pool/spa was okay.
• Group of thugs decided to have argument outside at midnight- management did nothing.

“This hotel is on the edge of Downtown St. Augustine. The hotel attracts a lot of undesirable characters. The staff acted put out when asked to let us in the pool half an hour after the pool was supposed to be open anyway. Luckily, I only had to stay one night.”

• Nice breakfast buffet!

“The fan in the bathroom was extremely noisy, and the toilet seat was broken, I didn't want them to come into the room and work on these while we were staying there, felt it should have already been done, I did report it upon leaving the motel. Also, the sheers under the drapes wouldn't pull in places, as they were broken. It had a feeling of disrepair about the room. The room attendant was great about making up the room!”

• Rooms too small; facility very old-needs remodeled.

“Our entire experience in St. Augustine was so poor we left a day early. Wouldn't accept my AARP membership to give me a discount. I lost. Hotel needs to be modernized. Room we had should have been a single, not a double. Furniture old; bathroom facilities old.”

• Price was economic and there was availability, good location.
• Room smelled like feet.

“Although it was close to the Old City and tourist attractions, I would never stay there again. The room smelled like sweaty feet. The carpet drapes and covers seemed old and very used. Also, we went to the "continental breakfast" about 45 minutes before it was supposed to be over and there was nothing but coffee, a juice machine and stale cereal in Tupperware box.”

“Very casual and staff accommodating and friendly; would recommend to anyone interested in a nice no frills good price motel in the heart of historic St Augustine; we are very pleased;.”

• Great location, charming, run-down, and friendly staff. Smokers had been in our non-smoking room.
• Smoke smell, weak complimentary breakfast.

“Great location, near the fort and old city and public beaches. Charming low slung building shaded by giant live oaks. Very friendly staff, but the building is out of date and worn and the complimentary breakfast was pretty paltry.”

• They got our room charges mixed up after I checked twice to be sure all was clear. We stayed an extra night and checked in early.

“I liked the location and they were very accommodating when we changed our days and rooms. I was assured all was fine paid and left. However, I have since received a bill saying we did not take a room. We took 3 rooms and an extra day. This was made clear while I was there and was told all was fine. I am somewhat upset and have sent a letter. Hopefully, this will be resolved. They are trying to charge me again 2 nights for a room claiming we did not take the room. We were there in the rooms they gave us. Telling me all was understood. Possible a language problem.”

• There was a 600 year old oak tree in the middle with tables that we sat at and lounged.
• It wasn't American owned.

“We have stayed in a lot of bad hotels. This hotel was great. It had a very nice place in the middle of the hotel's parking lot with a 600 year old oak tree which shaded the entire area and they had tables and chairs to sit at to relax. We truly enjoyed out stay.”

• Location was great, close to old town.
• Rooms were not as clean as expected.

“Hotel is in a good location, near many popular attractions. Friendly staff. The hot tub and pool are clean and not crowded on the day we were there. The rooms need updated, and they need to be cleaner. Our rooms also had very small bathrooms. We stayed with a small group, there rooms were the same.”

• It is conveniently located near the historic sites we want to visit, accessible to restaurants ^ convenient stores, strategically located.
• They could use some new pillows & a little painting & repairs on the walls & doors.

“For the price we paid, it met our expectations. Like what I said before, it is strategically located within the historic sites we want to see, a few places to eat within walking distance & convenience stores around. Overall, we were satisfied with the service, they just need a little improvement on the premises,( the room fouls use new paint & repairs on the bathroom door).”
