“My husband and kids visited this hotel last spring. Generally we go to the Ritz Carlton when we travel because we always know what to expect every time quality service! I decided to try someplace different because my kids love Universal and I thought it would be great to stay close to the park because of convenience and a non potty trained 3 year old. Big mistake. Usually I never get taken in by these things but I figured if some of the big celebrities could stay there how bad could it be? Upon arrival the hotel lobby was pretty. Check in was fairly easy and the front desk ok. When my husband and three children got to our adjoining rooms it smelled like mold. I initially thought the smell was temporary but it wasn't. The room was dusty, open bottles of shampoo were in the shower, the wash cloths had hair woven through them and the hallway walls needed repair. The manager showed me other rooms however they weren't a whole lot better. I told him we were checking out immediately and going to the Ritz and he told me to try their more superior hotel The Portofino which was a couple steps better. Don't believe the Royal Pacific lagoon picture on the internet with the plane. I was told upon check in by staff it was basically a muddy lake. Beautiful hotel overall but rooms were very dusty. breakfast not good. Cleaning staff were pretty pleasant but my 3 year old had more interest in cleaning his own room then any of them. Language barrier as well. Not as bad as the slummy rooms at Royal Pacific. The only Loews that will ever see me again is their local movie theatre. At least I don't have to stay overnight!”

“The hotel was nice, but not worth what we paid. We did not get the "royal" treatment as advertised, because in my opinion, we looked middle class. I had to ask where the front desk was, carry my own bags out, and was also told that I couldn't drive my own car up to the lobby parking area to load luggage unless I paid. So, we "huffed" all of our luggage out to the parking lot. High class got taken care of and were led by the hand. Unfortunately, we were not. For those reasons, I rate the service as "way below average", not to mention I've never paid $20 for a bud light and a wine cooler before, except when I was in Singapore! I've gotten better treatment at Motel 6. The hotel interior was awesome, all except for the rooms and hallways! Hallways had holes in the drywall with corner chunks missing. Rooms were small, poorly ventilated, and clearly worn out and "dated". My room at Howard Johnson's was of a higher quality than this hotel's. Overall, had a great time at Universal Studios, and the hotel pool. Next time, we'll purchase the express pass separate and stay at Residence Inn downtown. Lesson learned! Middle class folks.....stay clear from this place. You're not wanted. Rich folk........enjoy!”
