  • Really nice soft plush pillows.
  • The staff wasn't very friendly.

“It was fine for the price but there wasn't much around it that didn't require taking the busy freeway to do something.”

  • The front desk area was remodeled.
  • The rooms were not remodeled.

“I chose this hotel because it said that the rooms were remodeled. We looked at 3 different rooms trying to find a remodeled one. The front desk had no idea which ones were. None of the ones we looked at were remodeled. Remodeling was on every floor and every floor was a mess -- our room -- the best we could find -- had mold on the bathroom walls and stains on the walls -- it was pretty gross. It did have the new carpeting though. I would not recommend this hotel any time soon -- when it is done, it will be nice. -- but it is very disorganized.”

  • Close to airport. Wireless worked great.
  • Old, worn.

“Charleston Plaza Hotel -- not Ramada. Still no signage, although you can see where the Super 8 sign used to be. I had trouble finding. Is now renovating to become a Best Western so check back in a year. Rear entry not safe or attractive. Mildew shower, takes 5 minutes to get hot water, toilet doesn't flush well, stale smell in room, cobwebs in corners, broken chair, no clock, old beds. Wireless internet is working great and it is very close to the airport. Close to hospital so hearing ambulances and helicopters on occasion. I am thankful to have a place to stay, Ive been in worse, but don't be expecting a top of the line hotel here.”

  • It was an ok hotel for a one night stay. It was clean enough, though things were run down.
  • The staff at the front desk was not friendly. They seamed as if I was bothering them by checking in. The room was not available at the check in time.

“Location is fine for the Charleston area. However this hotel is ran down so I left like everything was dirty. Sometimes you get what you pay for. A cheap price for a cheap hotel.”

  • The pool area was beautiful. And amazing on a weeknight.
  • The people coming to the hotel bar on Friday night. Police was everywhere around the hotel. Not for kids.

“The hotel was a wonderful place on a weeknight, beautiful pool/hot tubs area. Amazing! Friday night, another story. The hotel was full of drunks going to the hotel bar area. They were all over the corridors in the hotel. There was no where to park. In asking the hotel they said park where ever you can. We parked over a block away and had to carry a sleeping baby to the room in the rain. The police were all over the hotel on Friday night with people fighting. Even had the police knock on our door at 11pm at night. To see if we were the ones making noise. Not a very pleasant stay! We stayed at this hotel so my 3 year old son could play at the pool and not disturb other guests by being rowdy. Maybe the people at Ramada should learn a lesson and keep the drunks in the bar and not all over the corridors of the hotel. It was the worst place I have ever stayed.”

  • Good location. Clean. Renovated lobby. Great breakfast.
  • Rooms not yet renovated, although in acceptable condition.

“I was concerned about the poor feedback this hotel received but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a nice location. The lobby and common areas were recently renovated and I suspect they are also going through a room renovation (the rooms are comfortable and clean though). Indoor pool available although I didn't use it. Nice breakfast was included at no cost including waffles, fruit, cereal, coffee, bagels and donuts. I would definitely stay here again if I was traveling through the area.”

  • Pleasant room.
  • "Rough crowd" packed lobby due to boxing match scheduled in one of the conference rooms. No parking either as a result.

“Wouldn't choose to stay here again. Opinion probably would have been different if the boxing match hadn't been scheduled there.”

  • Doors where difficult to open, but staff was helpful.

  • The hotel was very clean. The staff was friendly and very helpful. We loved the location of the hotel. It was within 5 minutes of the mall.
  • The room was very small for the price. We paid an extra $10 for a bed for my daughter.

“The hotel staff is friendly. The location is perfect for going shopping, yet enough out of the main district that it was private.”

Cleanliness:[7] • Staff:[10] • Location:[10]

  • Excellent service and a smoke free bar.
  • Room cleanliness needs improvement and more fridges & microwaves.

“This hotel is in the process of remodeling. Taking that into account, the common areas are clean and well kept. Good breakfast buffet and pool area. The "exercise room" only consists of 4-5 machines. The rooms are more than adequate in room and comfort but the housekeeping needs to clean the rooms better. When I arrived I observed many hairs on the bathroom floor among other signs of a poor cleaning job. I stayed for three nights and the most of the hairs were present the entire time.”

Cleanliness:[4] • Staff:[8] • Location:[2]

  • Breakfast was great.
  • Pool had too much chlorine. Was in a smelly side of the town.

“Not a bad place to stay, but would have preferred being on the other side of the river.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[1] • Location:[3]

  • Close to highway.
  • Filthy, rude employees, everything smelled like cigarettes.

“First of all, I had requested a non-smoking room since I was staying with my 5 month old baby. When I checked in, they told me I was in a smoking room and when I showed them the paper saying non-smoking their answer was "There are no guarantees". The room was disgusting and the whole building was filthy. I did not really have a choice to leave since they had already charged my credit card in full for the three nights and refused to give me my money back. They refused to switch me to a non-smoking room and ended up putting an ozone machine in my room when I went to dinner. It was supposed to be in there for just an hour but when we came back three hours later it was still in there and there was warning signs all over the door saying it was dangerous and not to enter. We had to track someone down to remove it and then were still nervous that the room might be dangerous to our baby. The employees were all very rude and not helpful at all. Breakfast was okay but most of the guests staying there were complaining about the food along with the whole hotel experience. I was very disappointed and I definitely recommend staying somewhere else.”

Cleanliness:[6] • Staff:[7] • Location:[8]

  • Breakfast, housekeeping staff, beds were comfortable.
  • Cost of stay for small crate-trained dog was high and had to stay in smoking room.

“This hotel is convenient to civic center and town center mall with adequate parking. Hotel staff very pleasant and accommodating. Beds were very comfortable. Excellent full breakfast. This facility was undergoing renovations and was therefore not as clean as it might otherwise have been. The worst part had to stay in a smoking room in order to have our small crate-trained dog with us.”

  • The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. One gentleman in particular went above and beyond to make sure that we had everything we needed.
  • The hotel was in the middle of renovating and we were not informed before our arrival.

“After all the renovations are complete, I would consider going back. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Had we been informed of all the work going on before our arrival, we may not have been quite so disappointed.”

Cleanliness:[1] • Staff:[2] • Location:[3]

  • The breakfast buffet selection.
  • Two loud wedding parties until after midnight. Rude and unhelpful front desk.

“The hotel is shabby, feels dirty, and the night manager on the night of our stay was very unprofessional. ”

  • Hair dryer, ironing board and iron and coffee maker.
  • Breakfast was packed, bar closed a 1/2 hour early, shabby decorations but undergoing renovations.

“Expected it to be a little bit classier. In was located in a truck/high way area. Not dirty but not spanking clean. Front desk not very friendly and the bar closed a 1/2 hour early. Breakfast was too crowded.”

  • Location.
  • Very noisy.

“Took us three tries to get the correct room, first one only had one bed, second one had not been cleaned, third one was okay. With the train going through repeatedly all night, it was very noisy.”

Cleanliness:[9] • Staff:[9] • Location:[6]

  • Met expectations, friendly knowledgeable staff, liked the inclusive breakfast, the shuttle service and the customer appreciation coupons.
  • The breakfast buffet not very tasty, nor healthy nor well organized.

“Made up for the less desirable location with the free extras and the well trained staff. The breakfast menu needs revisiting.”
