“Overall our stay was comfortable and relaxing, very quiet and met our needs. They should build a restaurant in the hotel since there are none nearby.”

“We had a view out our window of the hotel office, may be 10 feet away; so at least we didn't have the sun shining in. There was dust in the corners and on the bathroom fan vent. Breakfast was not bad - homemade waffles, cereal, juice (bonus points for having grape).”

“I guess staying in Charleston itself (vs. suburbs) lends itself to concerns on area. But not a location I would stay at again.”

“Nothing but teenagers running the second shift, issue after issue unresolved. Stock response was "it is hotel policy."”

“It was fine for the price but there wasn't much around it that didn't require taking the busy freeway to do something.”

“I chose this hotel because it said that the rooms were remodeled. We looked at 3 different rooms trying to find a remodeled one. The front desk had no idea which ones were. None of the ones we looked at were remodeled. Remodeling was on every floor and every floor was a mess -- our room -- the best we could find -- had mold on the bathroom walls and stains on the walls -- it was pretty gross. It did have the new carpeting though. I would not recommend this hotel any time soon -- when it is done, it will be nice. -- but it is very disorganized.”

“Charleston Plaza Hotel -- not Ramada. Still no signage, although you can see where the Super 8 sign used to be. I had trouble finding. Is now renovating to become a Best Western so check back in a year. Rear entry not safe or attractive. Mildew shower, takes 5 minutes to get hot water, toilet doesn't flush well, stale smell in room, cobwebs in corners, broken chair, no clock, old beds. Wireless internet is working great and it is very close to the airport. Close to hospital so hearing ambulances and helicopters on occasion. I am thankful to have a place to stay, Ive been in worse, but don't be expecting a top of the line hotel here.”

“Location is fine for the Charleston area. However this hotel is ran down so I left like everything was dirty. Sometimes you get what you pay for. A cheap price for a cheap hotel.”

“The hotel was a wonderful place on a weeknight, beautiful pool/hot tubs area. Amazing! Friday night, another story. The hotel was full of drunks going to the hotel bar area. They were all over the corridors in the hotel. There was no where to park. In asking the hotel they said park where ever you can. We parked over a block away and had to carry a sleeping baby to the room in the rain. The police were all over the hotel on Friday night with people fighting. Even had the police knock on our door at 11pm at night. To see if we were the ones making noise. Not a very pleasant stay! We stayed at this hotel so my 3 year old son could play at the pool and not disturb other guests by being rowdy. Maybe the people at Ramada should learn a lesson and keep the drunks in the bar and not all over the corridors of the hotel. It was the worst place I have ever stayed.”

“I was concerned about the poor feedback this hotel received but was pleasantly surprised. The hotel has a nice location. The lobby and common areas were recently renovated and I suspect they are also going through a room renovation (the rooms are comfortable and clean though). Indoor pool available although I didn't use it. Nice breakfast was included at no cost including waffles, fruit, cereal, coffee, bagels and donuts. I would definitely stay here again if I was traveling through the area.”

“The hotel staff is friendly. The location is perfect for going shopping, yet enough out of the main district that it was private.”

“This hotel is in the process of remodeling. Taking that into account, the common areas are clean and well kept. Good breakfast buffet and pool area. The "exercise room" only consists of 4-5 machines. The rooms are more than adequate in room and comfort but the housekeeping needs to clean the rooms better. When I arrived I observed many hairs on the bathroom floor among other signs of a poor cleaning job. I stayed for three nights and the most of the hairs were present the entire time.”

“First of all, I had requested a non-smoking room since I was staying with my 5 month old baby. When I checked in, they told me I was in a smoking room and when I showed them the paper saying non-smoking their answer was "There are no guarantees". The room was disgusting and the whole building was filthy. I did not really have a choice to leave since they had already charged my credit card in full for the three nights and refused to give me my money back. They refused to switch me to a non-smoking room and ended up putting an ozone machine in my room when I went to dinner. It was supposed to be in there for just an hour but when we came back three hours later it was still in there and there was warning signs all over the door saying it was dangerous and not to enter. We had to track someone down to remove it and then were still nervous that the room might be dangerous to our baby. The employees were all very rude and not helpful at all. Breakfast was okay but most of the guests staying there were complaining about the food along with the whole hotel experience. I was very disappointed and I definitely recommend staying somewhere else.”
