• This hotel is family run. They live in an apartment on site. There is no manager, housekeeping, etc., just the owners.
• Some items were in need of repair but everything worked fine, more for the look.

“When you arrive at the Sun Deck the first thing you see is the stairs going in every direction. These stairs lead to the various rooms and decks all around the property. The office was locked with a sign 'Rick & Rae are cleaning the rooms, back in a few minutes.' I was stopped and given my room key by Rae walking back to the car (this was 10am). I've never been able to get into a room this early. The room was small, maybe 8ft x 15ft. There was a single queen size bed, 1 dresser, 1 nightstand, 1 refrigerator, 1 microwave, 1 coffee maker, and 1 TV. There is no closet in the 'New Bedford' room. Air conditioning is from a single window unit that covers the traffic noise (and TV volume) well. The room was clean with a few stains on the carpet. The bed was typical hotel but in good shape, not caved in. The bathroom was basic. Toilet, stall shower, and sink. One of the items in need of repair was the shower head going into the wall. Worked fine but was rusty. The room overall was exactly what was needed for this trip, a place to sleep and change clothes. If you are planning to stay in the room why pay for a hotel on the beach (1 block from the beach). Every room has an assigned parking space. Once parked there is really no reason to move your car if you stay on the island. There is a bit of traffic noise coming from the mainland bridge. However it isn't near as loud as the noise from the Harley's that must be revved constantly all over the beach. The hotel has a small courtyard that has an outdoor heater, grill, stereo, and chairs. It is a nice place to relax but I didn't use it because it's also the main smoking area for some. As a service example: I asked Rae for a laundromat location. She without hesitation told me to use their washers, which are not coin operated. She just needed to finish the room cleaning first because they were full this weekend. I try to stay in Ft. Myers (Beach) fairly frequently and have a definite place to go every.”

• Friendly and responsive service.
• Nothing.

“I only had the opportunity to stay at this resort for 2 nights, big mistake. This place was amazing with the friendly family-like service and the spacious two-story room. Although not located right on the beach, the short walk there is worth it. Overall, I would definitely recommend others to stay here and enjoy all that the Sun Deck has to offer.”

• With new young ambitious owners, this resort will flourish and eventually be a prime property!
• Very difficult to find fault since new owners are so anxious to do well.

“I would certainly go back. I am sure it is going to be a favorite the projected improvements are made and I have no doubt that will happen. New owners are young and ambitious.”

• I loved the quaint laid-back Key West atmosphere.
• Can't think of anything.

“I loved this place. Its privately owned and run by folks who will make you feel like you are at home. I've stayed at many places on Ft. Myers beach, most grander and much more expensive), but I will be staying here from own on!”

• I liked that there was a frigate and microwave so you could bring home leftovers, I liked the location too.
• I didn't like that there weren't any rugs in the rooms, and the staff was not available to restock your towels or toilet paper.

“The sun deck resort is a ma and pop of a resort, but if you are on a budget and want to stay close to the beach and restaurants, it is perfect. You can walk everywhere, and also you are off the loud strip. Don't expect the staff to clean up and replenish toilet paper and towels, because most likely they aren't there. They may be in at 1230 or not at all. Conserve all needs. ”

“This was the worst experience of my life. We stayed here for three days and I must tell you if they did not have a 30 day cancellation policy, I would never had stayed. The room was in terrible condition; dirty carpets; unwashed sheets; knobs falling off”
