• Newly remodeled room.
• Room smell of new paint gave us headaches for 2 nights.

• Beautiful new building, great service.
• When you walk out the back door you are in the hood.

“The renovated part of this hotel, and the spa, are gorgeous and luxurious. The staff is friendly. However, you want to stay in the renovated building and not go out the back door toward the pool because it will make Motel 8 look like a 4-star hotel! We enjoyed our stay after we were originally put into a small stinky room after booking a 3-star hotel. Fortunately, the manager and staff were great so it was straightened out!”

• The staff was excellent, very helpful, accommodating, friendly, wonderful!
• The bathroom fan was so loud.

• Location was good, close to the airport and freeway.
• Entrance to rooms was from outside. Rooms had a smell of disinfective. Facility was clean but old and did not reflect a 3 star rating.

“I would not recommend this hotel to many travelers. Pool was small. They had a microwave, refrigerator, iron, etc but they appeared to be added to the room to get the rating. Lots of parking.”

• Bed was comfortable.
• Filthy rugs, noisy paper thin walls, computer broken.

“No way this is 3 stars, 2* at the most generous. Fairly good location for airport and Downtown. Rug was filthy, socks pretty black after walking on it for part of a night like it was never vacuumed or cleaned. Only small chintzy plastic cups were in the room. Excessive noise coming from rooms on both sides. They only had one computer terminal and it was broken, couldn't even print out boarding passes. Luckily a Kinkos is within a mile.”

• Location and food were very good.
• I believe the hotel rec'd its rating based on Spa and fitness centre, which I was not using.

“Very nice. Hotel is an old motel that has been very tastefully remodeled. Despite being located on a very busy Tampa street (Dale Marry-great location) it is landscaped with palms and plants to make the pool and even the parking lot, hidden from the highway. Spa and fitness center add to attraction, but was not used by my party.”

“It was more of a "motel" than a hotel. The hotel room was out-dated and did not reflect the 3-star quality rating.”

• Quirky.
• Plain, poor quality room furniture and no alarm clock.

“The room was motel style with outward facing doors, had low quality furniture and a loud window unit A/C.”

• It had an outdoor pool which I used.
• The room was a "down and outer" , no security, too hot in exercise room.

“3 stars are not drive up to the room deals, to me. I think you know that too. The room was not available until 3 P.M. in the afternoon. That is a pain in the butt when you get in town in the late morning. You have on heavy northern clothes and nowhere to change or drop your luggage.”

• The cafe staff was extremely professional and friendly.
• The room was very basic and boring.

“The hotel is in an area that doesn't offer much to tourists. The room was clean but boring and very basic. It is a motel setting and not hotel. The cafe/bar closes at 3pm on Sundays so you are on your own for food after that time. The Tahitian is certainly not suitable for long-stay as far as my expectations and standards.”

• Broken fixtures, dirty room, and a 1-star motel at best.

“Room was dirty, bathroom fixtures were broken. This is a motel - room opens to parking lot, no elevators. There is a spa on-site (in the main building - not connected) but the quality of the room is worthy of a one-star rating at best. An all around disappointing experience.”

• Not 3 star quality, promised breakfast and would not give it to us.

“I was disappointed; this hotel was a 2 star not near a 3 star. I emailed them about breakfast and was told it was included. When we arrived they said it was not included. The room did not look as good as a Holiday Inn 2 star. Hampton Inn's rated at 2 star are much better.”

• Landscaping.
• Rooms were cheaply decorated, internet connection was useless, and toiletries were not replenished.

“Not for the business traveler, internet connection was slower than dial up, if you are lucky enough to get a signal for more than 5 minutes. Rooms are like a cheap motel, toiletries are not replenished, and the TV is an old set with horrible quality and limited channels.”

“The initial room had a shower with bashed in tile. 2nd room looked like someone had been in the bed before us. It was the worst experience as travelers that we've ever had!”

• Dirty, old furnishings, run down.

“Upon arriving in our room, we found thousands of bugs on our bed, pillows, and frame of bed. We were given a different room. In the second room, the paint was peeling from the walls. There was no elevator so we had to lug our suitcases up the stairs. No interior corridors, so the room was accessed from the outside. The bathroom was unacceptable and we did not shower. There were holes in the towels. The bedding was old and thin. Pillows flat and thin and almost non existent. Chairs were covered in vinyl and were tacky. Electrical cords exposed everywhere. Ancient air conditioning unit. Activity (loud voices, banging noises) where heard all night long and we feared for our safety.”

• The bed was comfortable and the shower had good water pressure.
• The part of the hotel that I stayed in was not renovated and possibly had mold.

“The hotel is a short ride from the airport and is a plus there if you are looking for a bargain. The exterior from the street and lobby are definitely 3 stars as likely are the rooms in the main building. However, be advised that you will likely get put in the back part of the hotel. A little scary. I would have moved hotels had I been there for more than one night. There appeared to possibly be some mold near the room air conditioner. My room, however, was clean for the most part. The bed was comfortable and shower was great (really good water pressure).”
