“This is the best hotel, I have stayed in. Hiltons don't compare. The Staff is amazing. The rooms beyond belief.”

“We have never been to Asheville, NC. The location of the hotel is less than 5 minutes to the busy downtown area. The grounds of the hotel were not 3 star quality but we are not golfers so it didn't impact us too much. The front desk personnel were not pleasant, at least the ones that helped us. We did see others that were smiling and happy. I would probably go back if the price were cheaper but only for that. I would much prefer to go to another hotel in the heart of downtown that had much more charm and had more amenities.”

“Room had a musty, old smoke smell. Gnats in abundance. WiFi was not working over half the time we were there. Housekeeping was deplorable and did not speak English. Front desk personnel not friendly or helpful.”

“Convenient location. Staff was very accommodating and wanted to make our stay perfect. Bedding was wonderful! Slept like a baby. Owner is going to great lengths to bring this property up to par as a Crowne Plaza resort.”

“Overall, we were comfortable. Liked the bed. Too overrated for what you get. Kind of felt like we were in a hotel meant for 20 yrs ago and needs some Tlc.”

“Overall, we had a pleasant stay. It is obviously an old Holiday Inn which Crowne Plaza purchased and has attempted to renovate. It was very conveniently located, and the staff was friendly. I liked that each room had a private balcony, even though ours didn't have a view worth using it for. Great for conference attendees, but not for the individual leisure traveler.”

“This hotel exceeded my expectations. It is an older complex that has been recently refurbished and caters to group meetings, golfers, etc. The bed was outstanding and the room was exceptionally clean and well maintained. There was a small balcony overlooking the golf course and pool. The pool was not open yet (early May) so it was very quiet. Restaurant service at breakfast was excellent, as was room service (hot and on time). The were able to meet a special food request. It was great value for the price.”

“Rooms have been nicely redone with comfortable bed and linens. Walls were very thin with noise from adjacent room and hallways easily heard. Hallways were not very appealing or clean. Close to downtown Asheville, but access is very difficult to find and hard to navigate on and off interstate.”

“This reworked Holiday Inn has the latest comfortable bedding and room decor. The curtains blocked light for good sleeping. There was no cleaning chemical odor. A good value for golf (not my thing) and a view of the greens from most rooms. It hosts large groups, so ask before you leap. The access and location are tricky. Get good maps/directions if you do not know the area.”

“This Crowne Plaza used to be a Sunspree and changed about 3 years ago. Employee said the place "has come a long way" since then. These changes were noticeable in the plush bed linens and the hotel has wonderful amenities (golf, tennis, pool, workout room and concierge). But, it's not up to par for what I expected from a Crowne Plaza. Although it is now a non-smoking hotel, the old smell of years of smoking is embedded everywhere. It's evident when you enter the lobby and continues in the hallways and rooms. Concierge service is nice, but hard to obtain. She was not there when we checked in at 6:30 pm and did not arrive until 11:30 the following morning (well after we left for the day). We wasted a lot of time driving around the mountains because no one at the front desk could suggest a good place to hike nearby. We were pleasantly surprised to learn that our stay included a free breakfast buffet (not continental), but were so disappointed with the quality of the food that we only ate there the first morning of our stay and opted to purchase breakfast outside the hotel after that. Everything is loaded with grease, fruit (only some cut-up honeydew) was not ripe, pastries were not fresh, and grits (that we had to order from the kitchen because what they had out was loaded with butter) were dry and lumpy (chef didn't have enough sense to add more water knowing he wasn't going to load with butter). Would not stay there again, but we got what we paid for so I can't complain.”

“Excellent room, beautiful location, both near downtown Asheville and yet enough removed to be rustic. The high-light was the breakfast buffet, which the manager had kept open for late arriving wedding guests. Excellent, personal service and staff.”

“Located off a one-way road, access is difficult as you can only reach this hotel coming from Downtown Asheville. The hotel is more of a converted motel, meaning it is spread out horizontally. The location is obviously old and maintained fairly well, but services are terrible. Room cleaning never came one day; both room service and morning breakfast was awful. Realize that this hotel equates itself on the same level as the Renaissance Hotel but we stayed in the Renaissance earlier in the week (for less than the Crown Plaza) and were thoroughly impressed. We did not enjoy our stay and would never recommend it to anyone. On the positive, the free internet was nice for checking email although download speeds were slow.”

“Hotel was nice, comfortable, & quiet, but fitness center was horrible. Not much equipment and what they had was old and not well maintained. Also, to get to our room, we had to walk a really long way from parking lot. We had a bell hop cart, but we had to pick it up to get it over several stairs- no other way to get to the room.”

“This is a lovely hotel/resort that is located just on the outskirts of the city. They had a concierge who was very helpful in where to go and what to do and how to get there. It was convenient to the downtown and to the Baltimore (one of the major attractions) and you could buy your tickets at the hotel. I was very pleased with this hotel and would recommend it to anyone.”
